Like, here you are - carefully planning what to put onboard and when all done, you have another 700 mu's left in main. Then after doubling all the numbers, you STILL have another darn 400 mu's to try to fill up. Then ya gotta start just grabbing stuff and when done with that, there is STILL room left over. Such a HASSLE! And I haven't even talked about the Command or Engine section yet! <BG> Seriously - I have no problem with upgrading the ISS players. Fee? Make me an offer via private comm. The main problem is (everyone take note here) is that I do not have any hulls. I was not prepared for this (who was?) and did not have a stockpile. I am negotiating with presently to be anonymous parties for a colony in the periphery - one which will help out anyone wishing to get their paws - er, I mean hands on one of these beautiful exploration vessels from the universe's premiere explorers. <G> Shazz (not to be confused with Chazz) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Mar 1995 07:26:55 CST From: steve668@dallas.relay.ucm.org To: BSE-L@consensus.com Subject: Luxury Liners Message-ID: <9503080737.S107564453@dallas.relay.ucm.org> Jason, I spoke with you recently about the SSL roadshow, and you explained the no one in the SSL was building any, because of the lack of any freighters large enough to carry sufficient numbers ov entertainment modules. Now that ship specialization will essentially double the cargo capacity of a freighter (assuming someone gets that tech), will the SSL now be restarting the roadshows? Also, in the interim, since hull-shifts are now tied to the ship, would you like an ITS built Superhauler in exchange for a Roadshow visit at IMP colonies? The ITS-SH can carry just over 3000 mu, with a BS of 2.1, however the SSL affil. speed bonus would modify that. It would make a useful tourbus for a roadshow. Jason, You had not yet gotten back into BSE when this attack went down. A RIP ship attacked and damaged the Capellan stargate. An ISP DN was present, but no battle was triggered due to a bug in the system, despite having "all ISP posted" on it's enemy list. The RIP ship fled immediately before the bug could be bypassed. Will the SSL be repairing the Capellan stargate? Steve Mathews To everyone: On the subject of stargates, the Einstein stargate, the only one that was IMP owned, seems to have disappeared. It wasn't destroyed, because I checked with RTG, and there would have been code in the system showing the link. The stargate simply disappeared, no code exists in the system that shows it ever existed. <Thank you again, Mike P.....you @#$%^&!>. This disappearance took place some time back, and i've been investigating to figure out what happened. I am not going to rebuild the stargate. If anyone else wants to, that's their business...and defense is their problem too. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Mar 1995 08:58:54 CST From: steve668@dallas.relay.ucm.org To: BSE-L@consensus.com Subject: Luxury Liners Message-ID: <9503080920.S107634026@dallas.relay.ucm.org> Steve D., It's "von Ludendorf", not "Von Ludendorf". I would have to buy Myrships from you and then strip the ISS ships for their own hulls after the starcaptains were switched over. Today, the colony Ticonderoga is having a festival to celebrate the renaming of the colony to EEM China Grove (2430) and to retire Governor von Kessel, who will step aside for Minister Maddie Mallard. We would also like to lay to rest the rumors that von Kessel is now manager of the Funky Butt Hall (rec complex). The Bird offered him the job but he locked himself in the bathroom over at the maintenance complex, apparently holding himself hostage as he demands that he get his old job back as governor. The Bird was spotted, plunge in hand, headed his way. yadda Lila Pintail ... Neither do I dispute a companys right to help another company defend its property against unprovoked attacks. In fact the AFT ship acted with honor I had not expected from a group of merchants (No offense, merchants). I do have a problem with "hosts" who attack their "guests". Isn't the relationship between host and guest a two way street? Didn't the WCE give the SMS permission to operate in WCE space? Was that permission rescinded before the attack? Is it a big surprise that the SMS might want to have a way to supply its colonies in the Transhole? It is not easy for a company with no black hole transition technology to move between the Transhole and the Periphery. I thik this whole mess would have been very easily avoided with some simple communication. Is it that hard to get in touch with someone? A similar incident between the SMS\SSL and the FOE in 193 ended with about 15-20 ships lost or derelict overall. That incident could have been avoided by one phone call. Keep this in mind, EVERYONE, the next time you plan an attack. Don Guido (OOC: Okay, guys, we've milked this one enough. Somebody else start something! This is fun!) My brothers may not be happy about the loss of a transit point for their commercial ventures, most businessmen wouldn't be happy. But the foundational reason for disabling the stargate is understood and appreciated. Sometimes bad things have to be done for good reasons. If any AFF will walk, for just a moment, in the shoes of the WCE in this matter they will see that the WCE is not acting as a business, but as a government. Governments exist in order to survive. It *is* WCE space and they felt that their actions were necessary to protect their space, regardless of other consequences. Not an easy decision to make, but one that had to be made given the outlined reasons, which are valid concerns for *any* government in a similar situation. The WCE had an "unlocked" door into their house...they chose to lock it. Who amoung us would decide differently if we had to wear those same shoes? The decision may not garner a lot of positive public opinion, but harsh decisons based on the requirements of reality rarely do. But all we wanted was an acceptable explanation. (ooc- ya just can't role-play a minister of war without making a few threats or accusations when one of yer ships gets blasted!) The AFT has had long-standing good relations with all parties involved in the current mud-slinging, and we hope to continue that tradition. Thing were looking a little shakey there for a while concerning safe travel into the transhole, and as a council member, I was just looking for explanations and assurances. The WCE has given us both, but officially, the AFT will start to excercise a bit of caution here and there. Maybe a security ship escorting our merchant ships around, maybe contacting respective parties and letting them know of our intentions ahead of time (hint, hint), and little stuff like that. The FGZ/QSN war is going on, I think its fair to provide a little extra security here and there. ------------------------------ Date: 08 Mar 95 18:45:05 EST From: David Isaac <76170.2705@compuserve.com> To: "BSE-L@consensus.com" <BSE-L@consensus.com> Subject: Re: Newsflash Message-ID: <950308234504_76170.2705_CHL82-1@CompuServe.COM> "Good evening. Armed ships constitute an invasion; we'll take care of "protecting" any colonies, etc. in our space. I don't think anyone in the WCE would deny passage PRIVELEGE to any unarmed foreign vessels. Keep your armed ships out of our space and nobody will need "protected". No armed QSN ship belongs outside of the Drell System! These tools of Jasil are being used by the Imperials to carry out their expansionist agenda. Once the QSN invades a system, the Imperials will be right on their heels, claiming it as Imperial space. If the Imperials were not backing them, the QSN would still be making potholders and beads to sell to the ISS. All of you "green card" affiliations must remember that Imperial law, policies, customs, etc. don't mean squat in WCE space.
