It's simply a category of morale enhancers. Furthermore, it is not possible to give yout colony more than one type of "drug" at a time. If, as I and others have suggested, the entire colony morale system gets trashed, then your ideas are more workable. If, as I and others have suggested, the >entire colony morale system gets trashed, then your ideas are more workable. Not really, Coffee is not a pharmaceutical; but look at the effect in almost any large workplace if the coffee pot suddenly stops working.... I was under the impression that you could give upto five types of items (including food) to your colonists as "distribution". I know that the combination of Food/LUX/CG works. And as far as I know, LUX could just be some more exotic "Legal" drugs (Like Kona-coffee, Hersey chocolate bars during WW II, etc). Even if LUX represents satin sheets, have your entire population sleeping in satin sheets for five years and then give them only wool sheets to sleep on and you'll probably have a riot on your hands.... <g> I consider "Drug" and "Addiction" to be general terms. And although drugs and addiction tend to be linked together, there does seem to be more of an emphasis on solving the drug related addictions as oppose to the non-drug related addictions (like Sex, Computers and Rock 'n Roll...). ------------------------------ From: ccharnle@m-net148.arbornet.org (Chip Charnley) Date: Wed, 29 Mar 95 17:55 WET Subject: Re: BSE: BSE Digest Update Please get me off the digest list. The SMS isn't targeting anyone, but we do have defend orders for the QSN and there is a QSN colony right next door -- so it would probably be wise for WCE and FGZ ships to avoid the colony until things settle down. We've got a special going on stimbrew right now, send me a position number and I'll give you a pickup authorization for 1000 mus of the stuff free! I thought you had to have a specific reason to shoot at someone. Or was that the rules of the OtherCompany's rules, and now is superceded by RTG's rules? (where you can do anything?) Attitudes like this tend to make it seem that IND is an affiliation. If I remember ten years ago there was a debate as to whether you could target >all IND<. The answer was (if I remember correctly) that targeting >all IND< was illegal because that, effectively, made it into an affiliation. Players should be allowed to set aside ships out of the normal fray. Yes, it's true. I have IND ships. Why should I be put at risk for what someone else is threatening to do to the DTR? How else do you declare yourself to be an innocent bystander, except by changing the affiliation to IND? Please explain. - --Russ Boggs ------------------------------ From: steve668@dallas.relay.ucm.org Date: Wed, 29 Mar 1995 20:13:14 CST Subject: BSE: Drugs, Addiction, Etc United Press Intergalactic - News Release wk 11-195 IND Allipon, Limond system A new item has appeared on the Market report of IND Allipon, "Durable goods" (item# 210, 2mu). This item was found by ISS Peace Emmissary, on a routine mission to the planet allipon. With assistance of QSN colony Moria, 1 of these items was purchased and investigated. The "Durable Good" is as follows: "Durable Goods are next generation Consumer Goods. They produce a 15 point morale bonus when given to colonists at a rate of 1 MU per 1000 colonists. Durable goods require Metals, fossil Fuels and Jacium to produce." It is believed that this new item will assist in helping morale at many colonies (2mu of production instead of 15mu), especially at those locations which lack LXGD. In other news, an IMP scout entered orbit of the gas giant Falco, in the Wisepran system during wk 12-195, as part of the ISS's re-survey of the entire Periphery. It was discovered that the 2 moons of Falco, Pumml & Twas, have disappeared. Pumml was 6x10, while Twas was (no pun intended) 5x12. since the largest moonship, Q-snit is only 1x2, both of these moons were far too large to have been moved by a moonship. the question is.... What happened to these moons. This just in from the Capellan system, a fleet of over 50 Dreadnoughts has been seen moving through the system. Anonymous sources indicate that this combined force of the ISP 4th & 5th fleets may be enroute to Northcape to join the ISP 2nd Fleet already there.
