New PBM tournament $25 prize From: julius@cs.wisc.edu (Julius Wu) Date: Tue, 28 Mar 1995 20:44:22 +0000 I am starting a new PBM game, that is based off of a strategic board game that I have created. The game is called SPACE BASH, and in general, is a game of space combat. I have decided to run the first public apperance of this game as a PBM game for two reasons. The board game has been play tested and has produced excellent results. But, I would like to get even more feedback from the general public, and I think PBM is a good way to do that. The second reason is that I want to see the full extention of this game in a large scale competitive environment. OK, now that you know the game exists and in general what it is, how do you get involved with this tournament. I am asking a small fee of $5 per pilot, to start the tournament. This fee will cover the expenses for playing material, my time in organizing and running the tournament and the $25 prize awarded to the winner of the tournament. A tournament will be held for every 25 players entered. Those 25 players will be randomly placed into groups of 5. Each pilot will battle against each other to be the last remaining ship in that round. It is a three round tournament, where all players advance, meaning that every player will play at least 3 games. Several awards will be given based on the number of kills and wins. The grand champion will take the $25 prize as his or her "trophy." I will only judge the tournament and in no way play or be involved with player strategy during the game. At the end of the tournment I will send a evaluation form to get your feedback on what you liked, disliked, or any other comment you may have. PLEASE TO NOT SEND THE $5 STARTING FEE TO ENTER THE TOURNAMENT UNTIL I EMAIL YOU TO DO SO. This is beacause I may not have a complete set of 25 players ready to go. If this happens, you will be placed on a waiting list until another set of 25 players has been achieved. Instead please mail me of your interest in the game and I will send you additional material about the game. Once you are entered into a tournament and pay the starting fee, you will receive the tournament rules and guides on playing SPACE BASH. If you are interested in the SPACE BASH tournament, or know anyone who might be.
