Ancient Times #0495 1/3 From: keith.langley@mdcs.com (Keith Langley) Date: Mon, 27 Mar 1995 20:58:42 +0000 Ancient Times News from ANCIENT EMPIRES and ONE TRUE FAITH Spring Equinox, issue #0495B I now have four players waiting for OTF game #4, which will start when we reach six or more players. Antediluvian Times Ancient Empires game #2 Sumatray completes conquest of Enta - Using local Entan troops, Sumatray forced the surrender of the last two villages in Enta to resist its rule. Sumatray declares war on Cana - Emperor du Saxe of Sumatray formally declared war on Cana, citing Cana's spy activity and unwillingness to negotiate in good faith, as well as family ties between Empress Margaret and Eric the Wise of Rodetan. Sumatrayan sources claimed two large armies were headed for the front, and revealed that metal from rebels in Titan is arriving in Rodetan in large quantities. War rages in Eton - In an attempt to stop Cana's takeover of Rhodes' newly acquired territories, a Rhodian fleet assaulted the city of Step. After easily winning a naval battle in the harbor, the invaders besieged the city but were defeated and forced to return to sea. Emboldened by this victory, Cana's forces attacked and captured the Rhodian village of Needle. More of Eton defects from Rhodes to Cana - Cana's diplomatic and espionage superiority continued to bear fruit as the villages of Mafan and Deam in Eton joined their cause. Rhodes now holds only the southwestern corner of Eton; the rest has fallen to Cana. Rodetan defeats Cana's army in Womas - In another of the massive cavalry clashes that have become commonplace in this war, nearly 20,000 soldiers from Rodetan attacked a Canan force half that size in Nat, Womas and totally obliterated it. Duba captures Slatran capital - Slatra's superior training was not enough to counter Duba's cavalry, as they swept into the unfortified city of Inca. Both sides had similar numbers, but Slatra's troops were mostly skirmishers; they could not stand up to cavalry in a field battle. Mirath forms empire, annexes neighboring lands - The nation of Mirath annexed the empire of Piking by diplomatic action, and also took over half of Titan. The villages of Threat, Mortal, Antan, Petit and Stone in Titan have joined Mirath. [A new player has joined the game, and was given additional territory to make his position competitive with other established positions.] LETTERS (Sumatray) - Cana, six months came a little early!
