Game Ideas Requested. From: elcabalero@aol.com (ElCabalero) Date: Thu, 06 Apr 1995 00:00:00 +0000 I am just beginning a project to create a multi-player, three- dimensional, PBEM, space strategy, Windows based, game. Although the game will have certain unavoidable similarities with presently existing games, it will be unique in many respects. Its greatest similarities will be with the game Master of Orion(tm) and a few commercial text-based PBEM's. It will be heavily player customized, with the player designing their own ships, choosing their own race, and pursuing their own lines of research. Most importantly, a unique approach to giving similar orders to multiple fleets and planets will allow the players to act on a much larger scale than is normally possible, with much greater speed. Anyone who ever had to assemble a fleet from hundreds of scattered ships in MofO will appreciate what I mean. It will also have a Point-and-Click interface designed for maximum speed and intuitive ease of use, with 2 or 3 ways of doing almost anything. This game will be on a larger scale than most, with thousands of stars, and playing field with over 19,000 discrete locations, in true three dimensions. And unlike many games that have turnarounds measured in hours or days, Internet users with PPP or SLIP access should be able to play a turn every 30 minutes. Others with good EMail access should be able to manage a turn an hour. And, like the game Planets(tm), it would be hosted by a player, so you wouldn't have to keep forking over turn fees. Basically, I am going to write the game I always wished someone would write, just so I can play it (Okay, and maybe make a little money). I am making this post to solicit requests for what you feel would make the "perfect space strategy game". Rather than me posting detailed questions, and possibly not asking the right ones, I would appreciate it if you would just free associate on that theme. Please respond by EMail to gentlman@xmission.com . I am using AOL for this post because XMission does not get this group. Regards, The Gentleman Referenced By Up
