What to do about a real newbie... From: "Robert E. Bolin" <draugnar@iglou.com> Date: Tue, 11 Apr 1995 00:00:00 +0000 This is a general PBM/PBEM question for y'all (proper Southern usage, for those on alt.fan.tolkien and others). I am in a game where a "newbie" (or so he claims) has made a serious blunder that could eliminate him from the game. The game is State of War, and his blunder is that he made me an allie while only posessing one state. The problem is, I could take his state capital by moving onto it with a naked army and picking up all of the forces, then dropping them back. They become my force, it becomes my garisson, and I own the state capital and, obviously, the state. He is eliminated. I made no "alliance" with him and told him that it was to early in the game for me to make any real alliances, so I don't feel bad if I eliminate him on those grounds. I did, homever, agree to play Panzer Blitz with him mono-e-mono, via snail mail. I'm afraid that it might alienate him to be eliminated from the game after only 5 turns, and if he figured out it was me, he might not want to play PBlitz. To add to it, I already took one of his Armories that same way, and he called me because he couldn't figure out who had taken it. He had no battle result, it just said that the garrison had been reduced to zero! This was last turn, so I played dumb when he called trying to figure out what happened today. I even told him I would send an army their and investigate it, with the intent being to tell him I took it back, if I let him live, otherwise to blaim it on another BIG neighboring state. What do you all think, should I show him mercy and wait a couple of turns then, when he is hooked into a PB game and several turns along, blast him out militarily or using the same tactic? Or should I go ahead and lay him to waste, laying the blame on another state? This is a real dilemma (spelling?) and I could use some good advice... Thanks for reading all of that...
