There's been quite a bit of discussion on the 2950 game in the e-mail magazine,
"The Mouth of Sauron."  You can subscribe to the Mouth by e-mailing Brian
Mason.  Post something to this group asking about subscription, and one of the
co-editors will get back to you soon with his e-mail address.

In the most recent issue (as of today) of the Mouth is a lengthy article
discussing strategy in 2950.  Mark Jaede and I take a bit more charitable view
of the game than does Wei, and I disagree with his assessment of agent
importance, but he's described the 2950 scenario pretty accurately:  lousy
economies (relative to 1650), small armies, good characters.  Still, it is
possible for some nations to have lots of troops, and even marginal nations can
field decent-sized armies if you don't mind running your economy at the ragged
edge of bankruptcy.
