The successful candidate should have the following qualifications: * Knowledge of at least one combat spell (be it offensive, healing, or whatever). * In or near the areas south of Kashmar and willing to travel to a posting in Dezhou. * Willingness to support armies in battle, both on the attack and on the defense. Preference will be given to: * Mages who are close to the expected theatre of operations. * Mages who already possess a horse. * Mages who are members of a Magic/Trade or pure Magic faction. Benefits to include: * Maintenance for the mage's person and two retainers. If mage has no retainers, fawning retainers and sycophants can be provided. * A personal bodyguard of at least 10 combat trained men, and the ready presence of observers to protect from attempted theft and assassination, as well as the protection of all nearby Free Companions units at all times (typically 40 to 150 troops will be within range). * Permanent funding for magical research in battle magic and associated fields. No need to hire workers to pay your study costs! Your funding is guaranteed. * A share of the spoils of battle. * A safe place "behind" large numbers of foot soldiers in any battle, from which spells may be cast with safety. * Combat pay for each combat participated in, depending on the number of enemies involved: Enemies Combat bonus 1 10 silver/battle 2-5 25 silver/battle 6-10 50 silver/battle 11-20 100 silver/battle 21-50 250 silver/battle 51 and over 500 silver/battle * Advances on future pay within reasonable limits. About the Free Companions: * The Free Companions are a pure War faction controlling some 15+ hexes south and southwest of Kashmar. We are currently experiencing exponential growth, are one of the two largest War factions in the Kashmar area, and are allied with the other largest War faction. * The Free Companions have never lost a battle and our largest loss of casualties so far has been 9 men killed in a battle where 40 enemies were killed. Our battle groups are typically over 50 men; there would be little risk to a mage casting spells from behind. * Our primary aims will be securing control of unclaimed or non-allied territory south of Kashmar. Applicants should send a description of their qualifications, location, etc., to: the Captain faction 109 yaj@cc.gatech.edu ---------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 15 May 1995 15:38:59 +0800 From: kennsugi@mail.cts.com (Kenn Sugiyama) Subject: Mac Order Checker Okay.. As is the tradition in our Order of The White Flame, I, Cassandra Mystara, have assumed by the Right of Ascension, the responsibilities of Precentor in the world of Atlantis from my predecessor, the Precentor Jenna Calayne. As part of the Right of Ascension, I have absorbed all of her memories, and extend friendship to all of Jenna's former allies. As, I myself am new to Atlantis (new character, experienced player) I now seek allies of a magical nature as I seek to rebuild our Royal House to it's former glory. It is with closed eyes that one sees through the dark, Precentor Cassandra Mystara of The House Mystara (Faction 665) (AKA - ivickers@uk.oracle.com) ---------------------------------------------------------- From: "J.P. Try using the abbreviation instead, in this case : Buy 5 HEL However, the demand for elves in Atlantis is rather large at the moment, so work on a NINE to ONE ratio! This means, if you want 5 men, order 45 to get them!! Placing an order for : Buy 5 high elves not only will screw due to the syntax, but you probably won't even get one!
