Because even a poor attack can succeed, as with Ogygia. It had virtually no defenses. At this time we are still not convinced that the attacks will cease, and we need to be ready for another, well-planned or not. They are going up and down so fast it is hard to keep track. Now, with the SAM being able to turn on and off stargates at will, it is going to get even more complicated. My recommendation to you is that whenever you are thinking of using a stargate without a defending force, you ask about it on the net before using it. I'm going to be a BSE newbie, and have been busily rule-reading, digest-digesting, etc., preperatory to sending in my setup later this week. I have some questions about Space Fighters. At first look, they appear to be completely useless, doing less damage than any other weapon although they take up the same mass as Pulsar Beams (which appear to be pretty useless themselves). Worse, Space Fighters don't even fire for half of the battle. The rules say that they *always* hit the section they are targeting - Does this mean that Space Fighters have a 100% chance to hit? Or that they will always hit the targeted section if they hit at all? They don't have a to-hit modifier in the weapons appendix. This seems to imply that they are actually less accurate than all other weapons, unless their hits/misses are determined differently. If Fighters do have to 'roll' to hit, a couple of other questions spring to mind: I note that they have their own onboard guidance computers. Are they still assisted by the launching ship's Battle Computers? What about Sensors? What if the launching vessel is hit by Tractor Beams? Does that affect the Fighter's chance to hit also? I like the concept of Space Fighters. Brings up images of Luke Skywalker and Battlestar Galactica. I'm trying to find some reason to be able to justify having some. Maybe they have some special purposes? Can a vessel launch Space Fighters even if it has no Sensors? What happens if a ship loses all it's Sensors after the Fighters have launched? Do the Fighters continue firing? If the ship launching Space Fighters is set to Disable Enemy, does that affect the Space Fighters too? Or do they always try to damage the target? Cargo ships can not fire weapons. Can they launch Space Fighters? Thanks! According to TASS, the WCE News Agency, WCE officials here stated that the spy had been in operation for over a year, and the Qumans ignored several requests by the WCE to remove the spy from Abigone. Officials also say the operation was routine, with no loss of WCE life. Special OIS Ops personnel surprised the spy while he had all six fingers otherwise occupied, and proceeded to shoot the spy on the spot. Personal effects are being forwarded to the Quman government. Battle details are currently sketchy, but after a short but final intensive battle RIP Pittsburgh was defeated by the SMS forces. This ends an 18 month campaign to re-capture SMS Pittsburgh. It is believed, but not confirmed the RIP Governor Lord Powell Horn escaped capture by disguising himself as a Robotic Pleasure Sheep and baaing his way out of the colony through the garbage chute. We know that he was unable to leave the world (Hoylex in 1348 Jemain System), and is to be considered armed and dressed to kill. The SMS at this time has now declared open season on all Robotic Pleasure Sheep on Hoylex. All interested parties are welcome to come and join in the hunt. No IND Ships will be allowed in orbit of Hoylex, No IND GP will be allowed on Hoylex. ALL IND will be considered RIP and destroyed unless prior notification is given to this office. If ex-Governor Lord Powell Horn surrenders he will be treated fairly, and be tried for his crimes. By the SMS or IMP, his choice, other interested parties may send delegations to attend the Trial. More information will be forthcoming(ooc snail mail takes longer in Canada) . Reporters wishing to be allowed on Hoylex please contact this office to receive the suitable passes. IND Starcaptains can submit their names and ship's numbers to me, along with a brief profile and their known "friends" and "foes" and I will keep the information in a database. Should a question arise from another player as to who "owns" the ship, I will submit whatever infomation I have on that position. (For a small fee of coarse) I do not believe this will solve the problems that the IND's pose, but it may provide some security to those of us who wish to remain IND and "safe". Respectfully, Ens. "The IND colony Never Here observed an attack on the FET ship Wyvern's Spur (2576) by an IND ground party. The GP, IND Self Defense (2272), was defeated and fled. Self Defense was disembarked by the IND Atlantis (4735) which has since left orbit. Wyvern's Spur has been sitting in the spaceport for several weeks, after scouting the colony's ground defenses. Due to the unusual activity and the possibility that the Atlantis and Wyvern's Spur may be working together, the colony has posted the ship until either/or both of the ship's captain post the details of the attack publicly. An announcement by the FET's leadership about the Wyvern's Spur's mission or reasons for being at Never Here would also be welcome." I will be happy to pass along any information to the player who runs IND Never Here. Ens.
