The only concern you need have toward me, as another player, is that of courtesy. While, as I have mentioned elsewhere, and answer like "It was my colony before, and RTG has made sure that I won't place a strangle hold on the technology" would be reassuring, you are not compelled to reassure me. Of course, there are a multitude of possible answers, including: "I was on the 'phone with Thad and he offered me the colony because he wants rid of GM run positions, and I was the lucky one talking to him at the moment he decided to get rid of Eagle." I would certainly NOT be reassured, but would then know that with whom I had a gripe. As I say, it's a matter of civility between folks who are all spending too many hard-earned dollars on this game. Loutzenheiser" <76311.2317@compuserve.com> Date: 26 May 95 14:58:49 EDT Subject: BSE:SAM CC's Policy UPI-20/195 (Ovum, Kellon System, Samillian Hegemony) Vizier Ganeodiyo, Samillian Foreign Minister held a press conference today to clear up questions regarding the changes in Samillian Cargo Carrier sales policy. Q. Would the SAM consider selling Colonial Liner Specialized CC's? A. Yes we would, however we have no plans to gain that specialization so arrangements would have to be made for the specialization with a shipyard that had it. Q. Will the SAM sell anyone a CC? A. Our policy clearly states, "CCs will be available for all those who have heretofore been qualified to trade with the Samillian Hegemony, under the same terms and limitations as other trade relationships, with the additional proviso...." Therefore if you are not currently one of our trading partners you will have to go through the process of customer certification before sales will be negotiated. If you are one of our customers then CC's will be available on the same payment terms and rates as previously negotiated. Inquiries for new accounts from citizens of the Stellar Empire or other non Transhole Council governments should be directed to this office. Citizens of the various Governments of the Transhole Council should contact the Deputy Grand Vizier directly. Q. How soon will cargo carriers become available? A. A very limited number will become available in mid June. They have already been allocated to our existing customer base. Orders for additional CC's will be taken as our production schedules allow. Q. Will the SAM take raw materials as payment for a cargo carrier? A. As a general rule no, however that would be up to the actual shipyard manager involved. Stellars are the preferred method of payment, while unique technologies, tech licenses, raw ores, et cetera will be considered. Q. Will the SAM construct a CC for me with my hulls? A. Yes, the SAM will construct and specialize CC's from hulls manufactured and delivered by other affiliations. We will also do upgrades. There will still be a charge for this service, but it will be significantly lower than the purchase of a CC from scratch. (NOTE:RTG informs us that once a ship is specialized it can not be despecialized and that upgrading it will not change or eliminate the specialization.) So if affiliation XYZ wants to bring a Bulk Transport Specialized Suprahauler filled with hulls for upgrade the price will be reduced accordingly; all within accordance to the terms and conditions established during customer certification. With that the Foreign Minister ended the Press Conference and wished everyone, Adieu! ------------------------------ From: ac217@detroit.freenet.org (Chip Charnley) Date: Fri, 26 May 1995 15:46:41 -0400 Subject: Re: BSE: Events on Tought Ugo Lord Croft, FWIW, I would support such a solution to the Tought Ugo situation. However, I am not sure that my companions on the WCE Secretariat will go along. I am not sure how you can trust the QSN. I have only talked to one that I think I believed what he said. At any rate, I will see what I can do with the WCE Secretariat if you see what you can do with the QSN/PFM. However, note that in the meantime, I doubt that hostilities will cease. I would STRONGLY suggest that you give your Peace Keeping force DEFEND orders only. IF the colony has fallen by the time you reach it, attacking a WCE position certainly would not bode well for such negotiations. Can someone with battle experience please confirm or deny this rumor? For reasons which are too complicated to go into here, the answer is very important to both myself and my crew (we are adverse to the contingency plan of sleeping in our spacesuits). Colony Owners: Assuming the above was only a rumor, I have need to rent or lease 500 repairbots for a special job to last about 1 week. Good rates.
