In order to say that the AIS only hates Quman life, you must have had a non-Quman control group, or several of them, for comparison. Since the WCE are not life at all, I doubt that you could have come up with the requisite number of living control specimens. Don Guido ------------------------------ From: jstanton@qualcomm.com (John Stanton) Date: Fri, 26 May 1995 09:36:15 -0700 Subject: Events on Tought Ugo An open letter to the QSN, PFM, members of the T3, AIS, The recent AIS attack on QSN Portrude by the AIS at the behest of the WCE is most unfortunate and disturbing to me. I am personally saddened that two friends (the QSN and the WCE) are choosing to conduct war with each other, and that the WCE have chosen to attack the QSN on my world. I have openly stated before that the SMS has pledged to defend the QSN, but not to aid them in any war against the T3. It is a difficult thing to remain neutral, but I have tried my best. However I will stand by my word and defend the QSN colony. A well equipped Peace Keeping ground party has been sent to enforce the peace at QSN Portrude. There is a good chance that my decision to honor my agreement to defend the QSN will cause me to be put in a position where I must fight other friends. The WCE has told me that they will not rest until they see the QSN and PFM forces removed from Tought Ugo. I recognize the WCE as being the legal government in this portion of the Transhole. The SAM, long time friends of Porkamo Base, have also stated their support of the WCE in this matter. As governor of SMS Porkamo Base my primary concern for the lives of citizens at QSN Portrude and PFM Suomi -- many of whom are relatives of my own colonists. This is why I feel that I must make at effort to find a peaceful solution to the problem that exists on Tought Ugo. Hopefully a solution can be found that will avoid blood shed. What I would like to do is offer to mediate some kind of a solution to this problem. My proposal is this, I would like to OFFER TO BUY the positions of QSN Portrude and PFM Suomi. The details of the purchase could be worked out in private, but subject to the approval of the ISP PD -- I would like to offer you both colonies in the Periphery that would be at least a class larger than what you currently have. These colonies would be near a major SMS Production colony (SMS Eklas) on sites that are well suited for good research colonies. Places where we could really work together on some projects. And after the end of hostilities, Porkamo Base would pledge to be open to the PFM and QSN as well as all friendly alien races and affiliations. I realize that virtually no one who reads this will like this idea, but I ask you to consider it in the name of peace. It is the best peaceful compromise that I can think of. Sincerely and thank you for you consideration, Lord Junior Croft SMS Porkamo Base, Transhole Coordinator [OOC: I am out of town this whole weekend, but I found out that I will have access to e-mail, I'll check once a day.] ------------------------------ From: PKRAUSKOPF@FALCON.AL.WPAFB.AF.MIL Date: Fri, 26 May 1995 12:53:46 -0400 Subject: Events on Tought Ugo -Reply The WCE would find such a proposal acceptable.
