Doug, Actually, I was referring to RIP New Beginnings, RIP Temple Moonbeam, RIP Special Complex, RIP Slave Pit 3, and RIP Slave Driver. Except for New Beginnings (which I actually bothered to capture, and have given to the USS), the others are all destroyed. Steve ------------------------------ From: LUDENDORF@delphi.com Date: Thu, 25 May 1995 02:44:04 -0400 (EDT) Subject: BSE: OOC Rip Pittsburgh Loss Neil, Is the Navy shipping you back out to sea again? I held back from picking on your stuff 'cause I don't think it's sporting to attack uncontrolled (in your case, at sea, the same thing) positions. There are rare exceptions, but they're the exception, not the rule. If you're leaving again, consider dropping (at least temporary) so that another RIP player can at least run the stuff. All ICN/IMP business should be refered to SAdm von Ludedndorf or the ICN APD Charles Rayburn. Steve (von Ludendorf) can be reached on this network. Charles is not on the net but can be reached at Rt 1 Box 2010, Poca, WV, 25159. All of my positions will continue to be active. Anyone who has business with them directly may contact me at the following address after June 21: 8330 N. 19th Ave #3139 Phoenix, AZ 85021 Hopefully I will be back on the system after I get settled in Arizona, but I don't have any current information on what that address will be. Eagle was, and had been for quite some time, a Gregos (IND) colony, GM run. As such, it performed an in-game function for all, and was in some respects "public property." By this I mean that it was a method ("location") by which certain moderated actions could take place. So, what happened? If, for example, it is simply a matter of returning to Jim what had been Jim's I don't have any sort of a problem with it as a PLAYER, but how should it be handled in-game? The IND -> EEM switch is a major in game event, and deserves being addressed. Furthermore, I am concerned about RTG's intentions regarding IND positions/depot colonies. It appears that many of the suitable positions are being reverted to player control. I am not "judging" these acts, merely interested in learning if they indicate a doctrinal ship on the part of RTG. Chip, I've faxed in many turns that were just "typed" sheets. They were tabbed to roughly approximate the turn sheet layout and were "compressed" (only the minimum number of lines needed for the orders written) to fit several on a page. RTG didn't seem to mind. I don't think that the permutations are as bad as you imply. As requested enclosed is GTT's updated Profile in text form. It is more current than the one that RTG may be sending you. New since this profile was written is that we now have colonies in three regions, the Periphery, TH, and TC, and we have aquired the Pulsar Tank tech and some new StarGate tech. We are looking for people to help us grow our TH and TC colonies into first-class trading and R&D operations. We are also looking for someone to head an exploration team and a defensive co-ordinator. If you have any questions about the GTT, feel free to write. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ .. Galactic Transport & Trade (GTT) Profile ======================================== Updated: Week 52, Year 194 Affiliation #7 Affiliation Background - ---------------------- GTT is an imperially chartered affiliation in the human Empire. In addition to profit, the goal of GTT is to be a stabilizing force in the galaxy. In terms of material wealth, GTT is the richest affiliation in known space. Some GTT colonies dwarf the size of entire affiliations. History - ------- The GTT was formed in the year 27 by the flamboyant entrepreneur Lee I. Prescott. By the year 41 the GTT had controlled one of the four major colonies located on Earth's moon, GTT Victoria. The governor of GTT Victoria built his population up to nearly 20,000 and in 47 discovered an unusual ore on Luna. This turned out to be PULAC CRYSTALS and enabled GTT to develop the first crude JUMP ENGINES. The GTT patented the new technology and became firmly established as the richest corporation in the Republic. During the First Rebellion the GTT supported the Empire with equipment. Because of this GTT received the first Imperial Charter under the Free Trade Convention. By the end of the year GTT had a virtual stranglehold on trade. The AFT was formed as a result. This affiliation took many of the GTT trade routes. Instead of fighting, the GTT moved into the more lucrative role of supplier. GTT Gaspree was built on planet Petroom in year 180, and started GTT's long history in the Periphery, including fighting with the SMS, suffering mind control from a creature known as the "Water Demon", and battles against the FOE, DTR, and MYR in the Trans-Canally. However, recently, GTT has been less active in war and has been much more active in trade. The GTT historically has an incredible loyalty to the Emperor. Some say that this loyalty is almost fanatical. In fact, GTT has often been seen as the power behind the throne. However, GTT has recently been frustrated by recent IMP rules and regulations that seem to be an attempt to keep the GTT from direct contact with the Emperor. Thus the GTT have become suspicious that some members of the IMP affiliations may not be serving the best interests of the Emperor or of the Empire. This potential instability not only may cause harm to the Emperor, but also threatens profitability. This is of significant concern to the GTT. Historically allied with the SSL, the GTT has good relations with most affiliations. Among GTT recent allies were two warring factions; the QSN and WCE. A good relationship with both put GTT in a poor position between. In addition, the WCE had support by treaty of IMP against the QSN, so when IMP came a calling, the GTT for the first time had to turn them down. This has lead to GTT's new policy to expand it's stabilizing influence outside of the Periphery and into both the Trans-Hole and Trans-Canally regions. Special Abilities - ----------------- * GTT colonies require only 75% of the normal man hour costs for factory production (under old rules GTT received 20% more manhours from their colonists than other affiliations.) * GTT Colonies offer special repair capabilities (under old rules GTT REPAIRBOTS can repair twice as much material as normal.) * GTT ships my perform stargate movement for half the TU's of a normal affiliation. Political Structure - ------------------- The GTT is controlled by it's Chairman & CEO (formerly known as the Periphery Director), who also holds the post as governor of GTT Colony Gaspree. He or she is assisted in decision making by a Vice Chairman and CTO, and by Defense, Information, and Exploration Coordinators. Goals - ----- The GTT seeks to continue to be a stabilizing force in the Periphery, but now also seeks to establish a strong presence in the Trans-Hole and Trans-Canally in order to offer an example of stability in these chaotic regions. In the short term GTT plans to have at least one class 5 colony in the Trans-Hole and in the Trans-Canally by the end of 195. GTT will divest itself of at least one of it's less productive class 8 colonies in the Periphery in order to facilitate this expansion. GTT will take advantage of recent opportunities to emphasize the "Transport" portion of its name. In the short term this means that GTT will design and make available a number of new transport ships in regions where the EEM monopoly does not exist. In the long term, as the originator of JUMP ENGINES and with its unique knowledge of STARGATES, the GTT will establish a class 8 research colony to further enhance the nature of "Transport." GTT will continue to use its production advantages to stabilize the commodity marketplace until Imperial Depot Colonies are constructed. This includes continuing it's polity of keeping available at many GTT colonies at least 4,000 mu's of the most commonly manufactured items at 5 stellars a mass unit--an incredibly low price. GTT will also create a special production colony in 195 to produce GTT unique items. As it has always done, GTT will be at the forefront of any exploration and exploitation of new regions found in the Galaxy. By the end of 195 GTT will establish at least one colony in a stellar system not currently accessible via jump drive. During the recent Interregnum, GTT lost access to many rare unique items stored at GTT Gaspree due to an unknown force known as "the ex-GM". The 195 the GTT will reestablish a museum at GTT Gaspree and begin restocking its contents.
