ATLANTISv2 atl-players-digest #72 From: csd@microplex.com (Christian Daudt) Date: Fri, 26 May 1995 00:00:00 +0000 I thought I was going to get thousands of responses asking me to keep this digest (maybe I just wanted to massage my ego ;-)) But I received enough responses, so I'll keep the digest going. ---------------------------------------------------------- Date: Thu, 25 May 1995 16:50:53 +0000 From: squelch@meiko.co.uk (Tim Page) Subject: ATLANTIS > HELP A little more specific perhaps? :-) Tim (squelch@meiko.co.uk) ---------------------------------------------------------- Date: Thu, 25 May 1995 17:21:46 +0100 (BST) From: Damian Penney <Damian.Penney@newcastle.ac.uk> Subject: OBS 3 LDR - MONZON For Sale .. Quite a number of us are Uni or College students, and I can`t be the only one who is going to be unable to access his Uni account during the hols, or is going to have it removed. Are we still going to have turns every week, or are you going on hols too? If not, will you prolong the "4 turns missed and drop out rule, or what is going to happen? Geoff?? Welcome Citizens of Spakker! The Surwegian Cartel welcomes you to to the bottom of the world and wishes you health, happiness, and long life. We are currently a 7 faction alliance composed of mages, warriors, and traders, who represent over half the population of Spakker, and we've come to carve out a fief in this new land. It is our intention to occupy the two hexes North and NorthWest of the city this turn. We are eager to avoid any conflict over this but prepared to deal effectively with any unnecessary competition should this unfortunate situation arrise. Uninvited visitors, spies, and thieves will be roughly handled. Nevertheless, we hope to pursue friendly relations with all our neighbors and would be pleased to speak with one and all. We especially urge mages and traders to contact us to discuss the benifits of mutual exchange. We have many skills and spells that we would be happy to share with you. Please contact: vlatimer@hilbert.maths.utas.edu.au in this regard. Furthermore, we are considering running a Spakker/Yakleks area group alias so as to enhance local communication. If you would like to be added to this alias please mail me at: swater@glob.com with the subject: Spakker alias. You may also contact our alliance by mailing to surway@glob.com. We greatly look forward to making your aquaintence and wish you longlife and good health in the days to come. I can't schedule the game around everyone's schedule, as there would hardly ever be a turn run! Your options: 1) Find a friend to run your faction for you. Or at least submit orders every week. 2) Scrounge up an account to play from. Failing any "free" account, you can get one from pretty much anywhere in the US, sometimes as cheap as 5-10 dollars a month. For Atlantis, all you need is email, nothing fancy. This of course assumes that you have a computer and modem. I don't know anything about other countries, though if you're in a big city, you can probably find something. 3) Quit and restart later. I'm willing to mail your orders for you, if you write'em in advance and mail'em to me with 'ORDERS [faction-#], [month]' in the subject line. Then it's up to you whether or not I'll get your turn-reports for the period. This is a highly altruistic offer since I've already got plenty of stuff to do, so spare me the suggestions that I might abuse your faith in me for two reasons: 1) If I where to mess things up, I would have to know where your units are and what their skill are. That means a turn-report (which I really don't want having more than enough mail to go through every day). 2) It would make me VERY unpopular in the game. So nobody would trust me and most people would very easy see a reason to hunt me. Now who would want that? The only reason there should be for me to receive your turn-reports would be so that I could handle emergencies for you. YES! - It would give me a lot of information, but on the other hand it might just save your factions butt, while you're busy having fun somewhere else. Besides it will mean a LOT!!! of extra work for me, so I really would like not to receive'em. Now I know that the most of you will be able to make some kind of arrangements to help you get through the summer, but for those without any alternative my offer stands, so drop me a note if you need my help.
