ancient times #6, 1/2 From: keith.langley@mdcs.com (Keith Langley) Date: Tue, 30 May 1995 00:00:00 +0000 Antediluvian Times Ancient Empires game #2 Cana drives Rodetan from Womas - Over 20,000 soldiers chased Rodetan's army (which was preparing to withdraw anyway) out of Nat, Womas and back to Rodetan. Cana secures Northern Rodetan - The army that recently took Tomal captured the lightly defended city of Rocas, providing Cana with a secure supply route to Hioken and occupied Womas. Midodo captures Sumatray's shipping - A Midodan fleet in the Unshat Sea won a victory against a smaller Sumatrayan fleet, capturing three round galleys full of troops. A second fleet captured a food shipment outbound from Styke, Sumatray. Midodan ships also harried Rodetanese and Sumatrayan fishermen in several areas, severely restricting food supplies and displaying unchallenged command of the seas. Midodo takes Thardic's capital - Midodo's army won a difficult battle against the heavily fortified city of Redmore, Thardic. Midodo lost over 2,500 men in the fight. Tunnellers and rams were used to overcome Thardic's five wood forts. Sumatray grabs free territory in Womas - Sumatray's forces re- occupied Kiska, Womas, and took the undefended capital city of Wor. LETTERS (Sumatray) - A state of war exists between Midodo and the Sumatray Empire. Sumatray is resolved to protect the independence of Thardic; any further Midodo attacks on Sumatray, Rodetan or Thardic interests will result in war between a titan (Sumatray) and a worm (Midodo). Archaic Times Ancient Empires game #3 Eastern half of world secured; peace declared - Ataro and Egham have between them occupied the entire Eastern continent, while Sindor has completed conquest of its own island plus Eastum and Woben. The three nations have announced their union, and their decision to expand no further. "We plan a long, slow, pleasant slide into decadence and decay", said a spokesman. (The players for the three nations mentioned have apparently stopped playing. Since opening up this much territory at this point would disrupt the balance of the game, I have decided to simply make these areas "off limits". Had these players continued, the result for the five remaining players would be substantially the same; their areas would be "off limits" because they would defend them.) The off limits areas are: the Eastern continent (Ataro to Tasmal and Egham), and the easternmost islands from Woben to Thardic. No player actions will affect any of these territories; they are assumed to be occupied by powerful nations with no interest in expansion. This leaves a nice tight map for the rest of you; life should start getting interesting! Gython invades Rhodes - Gython softened up Rhodes for an invasion by sending spies and agents to recruit local sympathizers; when the Gython forces arrived at Rhodan the city immediately surrendered, and Thorista and Republic also joined the Gython empire. Kampo gains protectorate over Largos - In the face of massive unrest and rumours of impending invasion, Largos appealed for membership in the Kampo empire. Many citizens were outraged, and rioting continues. Roselians in Jurong gain power - Citizens of Roselian blood, who make up the majority in Jurong after several waves of immigrants in the past century, demanded union with their mother country. They seized the capital and most of the country; the King of Jurong fled to the village of Stimos, where his strongest support lies. Epistles from Erth One True Faith game #2 Check rules corrections in THE PANTHEON, below. Appalling casualties in Normandy - Ettahae invaded Normandy from Anjou and Brittany, with about 25 units, two dragons and three artillery pieces. Storch defended with about the same number of units (half of them summoned) plus 12 artillery pieces. Storch's artillery squashed most of the invaders; Ettahae's enchanted chariot unit ran over most of the defenders. By the end of the battle, Storch held Normandy with His artillery intact, but His army was gone, and very little of Ettahae's force survived to retreat. Tyr's army enters Paris - The forces of Justice moved into Paris from Aquitaine and Burgundy, expecting a fight that did not materialize. Storch had pulled all troops and population out of Paris into Normandy (where, it turns out, they were badly needed). Ettahae chases Mobians out of Uppland - A large army from Aland and Norrland attacked Uppland; the badly outnumbered Mobian army retreated. Gramunch conquers Picardy - A typical Munchkin army - ratmen led by goblins - moved from Belgium into Picardy. Although a defending unit of spiders gave them a bit of trouble, they won the battle with light casualties. LETTERS (Tyr): My new address is: <deleted> Up
