The Crowds here in the starport are greater than any known in the past, even those that appeared at the launching of the Battle Moons. Alliponian security forces are trying valiantly to hold back this surly and vengeful mob. And the reason for all this? The long awaited arrival of the prison ship, ISP Night Stalker, carrying the 2 most infamous criminals in the history of the galaxy, Fat-boy and Jack Everritt. As the ISP ship rounded the sun, 2 battle moons left orbit to meet and escort the prison ship safely into port, while security forces began to cordon off the docking bay assigned, and sweep the area. Word quickly spread to the civilian population from the crews of arriving ships, and in droves, people started to appear. Many Alliponians are reported to have a personal gripe with the accused; possibly that he has raped Allipon in the past. In an interview with an Alliponian PAO, it was noted that the total neutrality of Limond will still apply and be enforced during the trial. However, anonymous reports indicate that not every Alliponian feels this way, and some have indicated a desire to vent their revenge on fat-boy personally. We can see the prison ship now coming into view, still in the Stratosphere. The Battle moons have broken off and assumed an overwatch position. The prison ship has begun it's final descent. The crowds are becoming more and more unruley. A break has occured in the security lines; Alliponian security is rushing to seal the line and apprehend the violators. The Alliponian liason with us informs us that the citizen who broke through had his entire family just disappear before his eyes, as fat-boy magically removed them from Allipon. Large numbers of "vacationing" SSL security forces appear to be present in the crowd. We see the uniforms of the old CPR. These few old-timers seem to be particularly violent in trying to break the lines, crying "Remember T-Snit!!!". Our historical advisor informs us that hundreds of thousands of CPR lives were lost at T-snit, when fat-boy altered the laws of Physics. We have word that a contingent of the enigmatic Samilians have arrived to represent the SAM case, that thousands of SAM lives were lost when fat-boy caused the Samilian civil war, and up to that point, a SAM could not even think of the idea of harming another SAM. I've just been informed that we have a special guest, the last of his race. Your name sir? Quattro. Why are you here at Allipon? The heinous monster whom you humans call "fat-boy" destroyed my people a thousand of your years ago, in a nuclear war. I was found aboard one of our seagoing vessels, in a cryotube. What were you doing on that vessel? I was the captain. After fat-boy had us launch our missiles, the crew knew our race was doomed. They elected to die on land. As captain, I stayed on board and took my sub down to the deepest canyon in our sea, and buried it there. I entered a cryotube. I expected to die there, but imagine my suprise when an ISS ground party entered my ship and reactivated the power. Fat-boy must answer for what he did to my people! What planet do you come from? <Imperial Censored repsonse> Why after a thousand years, do you expect fat-boy to pay? I understand that under your human law, there is no statute of limitation on murder, and he is a mass-murderer of the worst type. Pardon me for interrupting, but we can see that the prison ship is beginning to extract it's landing gear, and is reaching the docking bay. Alliponian ground fighters have taken to the air, to provide cover from would-be kamikaze's. Additional security forces have arrived to reinforce the lines. As the ship touches down, the mob makes one last attempt to break through, but the Alliponian troopers are ready. As the hatch opens, 2 white armored ISP stormtroopers (ooc: sorry, couldn't resist) exit the ship and begin to scan the area for assassins. After completing their scans, one goes to consult with the Alliponian security forces while the other reenters the prison ship. An alliponian troop carrier begins to move to the ship... obviously the intended transport for the prisoners. 8 more stormtroopers exit the ship, with the prisoners amongst them. If we thought the mob was unruley before, the sight of fat-boy himself, has incited them to a near riot. The crowd has begun to throw items at the prisoners, everything from gobs of animal excrement to bottles to rotten produce & poultry embyros. We undeerstand that the prisoner's attorney, Otto Bongwater is indisposed at the Duff Beer factory here. The squad of ISP troopers has now reached the waiting Alliponian TC. Jack has already gotten in, but fat-boy is trying to speak: "... you suckers, you PAID me for what I did to you, and you enjoyed it!..." An ISP trooper had to stop an Alliponian security trooper from presenting fat-boy with a rifle butt in the face. "...by intergalactic law, he's innocent till found guilty. Don't lower yourself to his level." With the prisoners officially turned over to the protection of the Alliponians, the ISP troopers return to the ship, and the TC lumbers off, with the mob attempting to swarm it. a company of Alliponian heavy tanks has joined the TC to act as escort. We understand that the prisoners are being taken to the Alliponian courthouse for a meeting with their attorney and the trial will start immediately afterwards. We will temporarily sign off as we relocate to the courthouse. <to be continued in a few days> ------------------------------ From: Kerry Harrison <kerry@freeside.fc.net> Date: Sun, 28 May 1995 13:42:38 -0500 (CDT) Subject: Re: BSE: Who should I join.-Reply On Sun, 28 May 1995, JASON GOFF wrote: > your askin', I apologize. But, I wouldn't be too hasty to go this route. Unless your the star Quarterback of college ball or something don't expect the best to come running with hand outs and open arms. In fact, only the truly needy are likely too do so off the gun. If you have no experience and really are new why would they trust you with much assets without proper training & experience? The reason.....the have a huge affiliation listing of just such players. Quantity vs. quality is always a double edged blade. The QSN seem to subscribe to quantity. I know very little about the MYR, they may be OK. Perhaps the WCE and the others are wondering what YOU have to offer. Do you regularly run turns? What other games have you played? Do you only want combat, exploration, colonies or what? How many positions are you willing to run? Are you willing to start out with smaller training positions, prove yourself and go from there or do you want it all now? The only thing you appear to be now is power position oriented. Not necessarily a bad trait but not always a good one either. Don't worry about the positions. Pick a good place to excel at what you do best, the positions will follow. If your good, positions will soon be a dime a dozen too you and not real important. War of agression? Let see in the time that RTG has owned BSE, how many WCE assets have been attacked by the QSN? How many FGZ assets? NONE. A QSN on the other hand has had multiple assets attacks. Who is the agressor? The biggest problem I have with this post is that it is primarily OOC, but is signed IC. The QSN has not directed forces at the WCE. We publically stated our displeasure at the FGZ. The WCE on the other hand pursued a covert war against us that has only recently been made public. You talk peace, but with a big gun. Wade. ------------------------------ From: Richard William Chiang <richc@uclink2.berkeley.edu> Date: Sun, 28 May 1995 14:17:46 -0700 (PDT) Subject: QSN OOC Statement I am writing this post to explain the QSN position a little better so you all can deal with us a little better. I don't really want a ton of responses but expect it. I am really tired of the whining going on the list regarding the QSN about honor and such. If the QSN was really as evil as we seemed why have we been the ones to undergone all the attacks? The QSN started as a measly luxury good source for the SSL. After some effort, the QSN established its sovereignty over its homeland (enter Joe Eckout). The QSN then tried to claim the Drell system by force. The IMP kicked our butts. The QSN leadership was overthrown and a new attitude of non-agression was taken (exit Joe Eckout, enter Tom Jackson). The new QSN grew by leaps and bounds. Unlike the theory being tossed around right now, their was no OOC abuses to do this although you are welcome to think so, but good game play. The QSN broke the Merchantman monopoly and made tons of stellars off of it. We used this money to buy colonies and stuff (eg. Unitredd was buying factories for 20K and colonists for 25 each). The QSN grew by being almost everyones friend. If you have traded with the QSN you will know that we are fairly generous. The current QSN position is very strong in terms of factory base, player base, and ship base. I think people did not realize that our factory production that produced Merchantmans could easily be turned to war time production. The QSN is the new power player on the block and I believe this has upset some of the powers that be. The QSN in the recent past took a very relax view towards little insults and attacks on our assets in the name of peace. More recently, the QSN players have turned decisively more militant. It is a function of play style and ability to do so. We believe in providing our players with the best in ships and assets. It is not a matter of quantity. It is a matter of what is best for the players is best for the affliation. The open larder of the QSN is the way the QSN believe in dealing within the affliation. The result is not getting quanity, but getting good players. There are enough barriers in the game without us trying to impose artifical ones. Last year was a turning point in QSN history when the QSN first demonstrated its military might verus the WCE. In the past, agressive acts such as having your security bots reprogrammed may have been accepted, but no longer. It was not just some excuse, but a function of the new militant attitude. The QSN is a warrior race that was forced to grow by trade and saw the benefits of such. We did not have the luxury of having a huge fleet built up over years of play. We did have a huge factory base and committed players who were willing to go to war to protect QSN assets. The result was a series of new SofL that were sent to attack the enemy (in this case the WCE). The WCE consider that they won the war, but we do now own their former largest colony. I joined the QSN post-RTG because of past relations with ex-SMS players in the QSN. Since I have joined, I have made an effort to resolve every outstanding misunderstanding involving the QSN. All those groups who were willing to do so, we have started productive relationships. The QSN make friends by being generous with our assets. Players like us because we are willing to help them out. For example, we have given many an upgrade on the basis of requiring a few turns of hauling when they did not have the money. As for our current problems, let me give you my point of view regarding the QSN. I am not naturally very militant. I would love to have resolved all the problems peacefully. Please understand this. The QSN is like colonial England. We have assets spread out throughout known space. If you think we are overreacting to threats against assets, please understand we do not have the luxury of a large area of space to colonize. We are not interested in "seizing" new space as we consider factory base more impoortant, but we can not tolerate random attacks on our assets as they are so far flung. If acted against agressively, we will react and seize every opportunity that is presented to us. I invite those parties with grievances to contact me to see if we can resolve the problems. If you do not, please stop whining on the BSE list about being menaced by the big bad QSN.
