ATLANTISv2 atl-players-digest #78 From: csd@microplex.com (Christian Daudt) Date: Thu, 01 Jun 1995 00:00:00 +0000 I thought I was going to get thousands of responses asking me to keep this digest (maybe I just wanted to massage my ego ;-)) But I received enough responses, so I'll keep the digest going. ---------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 31 May 1995 17:08:49 -0400 From: roy@acasun.eckerd.edu (Jonathan Roy) Subject: Re: New Atlantis Player Seeking Allies and Help It'd be neat if better riding skill lets your men move farther on horseback, but who knows. :) Maye riding level 3 or 5 allows riding bouns to combat for land types not normally allowed. On the defensive side will be your faction, and any factions that are allied to you. The exception is if your allies are avoiding. On the attacking side will be all faction who wish to attack the target units. Then, any factions _already involved_ in the battle will pull in units from adjacent hexes, where possible. > also: can you set Guard if non-allied > units are in your hex? > Yes. Only city (and town) guard prevent you from going on guard. > and: > if default attitude is unfriendly, > you move a unit into a hex and discover > other units, can you declare nuetral > before being committed to combat > by your old default attitude. Default attitude of unfriendly does not ever initiate an autoattack. I assume you meant hostile? In this case, no, the battle will take place right after the movement phase, when the hostile units can see each other. Is everyone sure that the Times articles are ordered by faction number? I've heard this several times, but it's never been officially confirmed... Personally I don't think they are... I have an ally whose faction number is so low that there are MORE articles before his in the times than his faction number! Jon's article faction (217) also comes before his, yet my ally has a faction number of less than 50! You can hunt in any region; unfortunately, you will gain nothing when hunting in mountains. Forests are not the only region, capable of producing furs; try tundras:) Michal ---------------------------------------------------------- From: "J.P. If I give a unit to another faction, using (GIVE 2001 UNIT), which one of us should give the unit orders of what to do for that turn? Me, the new owner, both, both but for different parts of the turn, or maybe it's even impossible? And if the new owner is to issue orders for that unit, how should he refer to it? Simply by its number? If the unit starves, what units will give it money, or what unclaimed money will be available to it? These are VERY important questions to me, as I don't want a level 3 unit to starve to death or anything. /Fredrik -------------------------------------------- ! The most usually one is simply WORK as this will keep the unit intact. ie : UNIT 123 GIVE 456 UNIT WORK The faction who owns unit 456 will take over the orders for unit 123 in the next turn!!! As for who claims the dosh? Probably the giving faction, so set them to work, or you'll loose out on the money stached in the bank!
