There are a bunch of fake spells circling the game that are misleading many want-to-be Mages. The ones to look out for are : Get Report (Mind Reading 3) Flying Carpets (Gadget 1) Combat Leader (Might 2) Winter (Season 1) Summer (Season 2) and any dubious looking portal spells! All these spells are fakes, I have been given this info on good authority. If anyone encounters other fake descriptions, make life easy on everyone by mailing it to me and I'll get it on the list. Yours Faithfully Tony Sheldon (cs0u308d@liverpool.ac.uk) PS Apologies to all people waiting for me to contact them, but I've had exams all week and one again this morning (Only a small one, but I'm tired). ---------------------------------------------------------- Subject: the Guild From: "Martinez del Amo, Fran." <fjm@MSF.UNIZAR.ES> Date: Wed, 31 May 95 11:43:27 +0100 Hello, Could the faction called 'the Guild' send me his address? The following factions have units in Atlantis City. .. 604 609 610 611 614 616 618 619 622 624 625 627 .. So from this we can PROVE that they don't know what they are talking about. You need OBS 4 to see a thief in Atlantis City, because the guards have OBS 3 and stop all thievery below that point. OBS 4 requires 1+2+3+4 = 10 months of study. There have only been about 18 months in the game so far (apart from January of course!), which means that barring no failed orders, you would have had to have joined the game on or before turn 8 to have that level of OBS. I don't think that those people with 600+ faction ID joined this early {I could be wrong!}. So we can be confident that their times article is just a load of propeganda. Just to top it off, I've got OBS 5 and the mind reading spell in Atlantis City, and can see every thief there is and what colour underwear they are wearing today ;-) NONE of the people on that list are amongst the active thieves in Atlantis City. hope this helps clear the names of all the innocents on that list! byeeee... I've just sent in my first set of orders (i.e. all my units are probably about to die of starvation). In the unlikely event that I have done everything correctly, I seek magic tuition for one of my units. I am happy to negotiate any means of payment, but would especially prefer to carry out tasks rather than paying out dosh, 'cos it means I actually have some motivation to do interesting stuff without having to work out exactly what I _should_ be doing (besides that strikes me as how a Master Magus / Apprentice relationship should work)... _______________________________________________________________________ Matthew Bassett internet mail: matthew@te.rl.ac.uk C.L.R.C. janet mail: matthew@uk.ac.rl.te ---------------------------------------------------------- From: "J.P. Replies fromany faction willing to help those struggeling to get started would be greatly appreciated. Also, soon I will be travelling to Yakleks and so would like to talk to, a) any other factions in that area or planning to travel there interested in friendly relations (and alliances) b) Friendly factions with experience of the Yekleks area who have any advice or warnings about the area (where to go and where not to go, what to do and what not to do) and the attitudes ofthe major factions and alliances there.
