BSE Recruiting Message From: richc@uclink2.berkeley.edu (Richard William Chiang) Date: Tue, 06 Jun 1995 00:00:00 +0000 Beyond the Stellar Empire is the classic space opera type game and is under new management. You can almost do anything in the game; trade, be a pirate, start a colony, research, explore etc. But the heart of the game is the interaction between the players where you negotiate treaties and trade deals, etc. There is an active core of players and a fairly complex political environment. Unlike many games, BSE is an open ended game. Diplomacy and backstabs become much more complex under the circumstances (and better and more real). Just to warn you there are some real BSE junkies who have been playing 15+ years and have a great sense of history and balance in the game. The Pitch: After spending bucks on telephone bill, I realized I needed to find some allies among some good gamers who have email too. So I am seeking some people to join my affliation in BSE. This game is huge and well established, but I can guarentee that any new allies won't start off with a loser ship. We will build you something nice. This game does cost $$$ :(, but you can spend what you want and I think it is fairly well worth it. Our affliation needs diplomactically able players who can spread our influence to the different reaches of the game and this is where much of the enjoyment lies. We also need players who are empire builders who are patient enough to grow with us and get a sense of acomplishment from the results. Finally, it is likely that warfare is in the immediate future so some war mongers are needed also. BTW, the rules are available at io.com using ftp anonymous Goto directory /pub/usr/kerry/BSE There are several sub-directories. Go to Rules for rules and General_Info for the files below. Download the large rules file. There is also an old copy of the Imperial Data Base (idb.zip ?) and this database will give you an idea how large the game is.
