This list is meant for all players in the Atlantis 2.0. Mail sent to this list should be appropriate for all players of Atlantis 2.0. Rules questions should probably be sent to the moderator (atlantis@rahul.net), he can then forward the question and answer to the list. Role-playing is appropriate, but faction-to-faction email should not be sent to the list. To send mail to everyone on this list, send mail to: atl-players@tango.rahul.net Please include the word 'Atlantis' in your Subject line, so the other recipients of the list can identify your message. If you wish to be taken off of this list, just let me know, at atlantis@rahul.net. You do not need to be on this list to play Atlantis 2.0. ---------------------------------------------------------- From: "D.J. There is now a new HTML-ised version of the rules up and running at http://www.ncl.ac.uk/~n252263/Atlantis/rules.html and can also be reached via the dungeon from the Mibs/Melnibone homepages (click on the big demon on the original imagemap). These rules were last updated on 7th May, so I think they are more up to date than those at the official site. As you may or may not know, the spell syndicate has uncovered a fake spell ring circling Atlantis (great pun, huh? Ring, Circle??). In keeping with the spirit of total bafflement, here's another spell we uncovered : Spell Class : PHLEGM Fling Spit Wad (Phlegm 2) : A mage with this spell can create a spit wad from the saliva in his mouth. The spit wad can then be flung onto a unit, causing them to experience a drop in movement. The unit affected will be covered in a white gunk that affects leg movement, reducing them to half travel. This is a powerful spell, and the loogie required to hock it enormous, hence the spell is a month long order. Use the CAST order to implement it : CAST Fling Spit Wad <unit>. More from us later. As you may or may not know, the spell syndicate has uncovered a fake spell ring circling Atlantis (great pun, huh? Ring, Circle??). In keeping with the spirit of total bafflement, here's ANOTHER spell we uncovered : Spell Class : MAGNET Create Magnetic Field (Magnet 1) : This spell allows a mage to construct a field of magnetism surrounding his body. This spell allows a mage an additional third chance to survive an attack. In contrast however, all iron items within the region are pulled towards the mage, including spears, axes, radioactive isotopes and swords. As a consequence, every unit gets a free attack on the mage, and all units assist each other in the forced combat. Due to the immense power required, it is a month long. CAST Create Magnetic Field. Required Foundations : Nature 1, Energy 3, Life 1. Spell Class : DEMOLITION Detonate Organ (Demolition 1) : A mage with this power can summon the explosive forces within ones body. Upon casting this spell upon an enemy unit, the forces within the enemy's body start to bubble and boil, causing the eyes to detonate. This has an effect of reducing Observation level by 60 days until the other senses compensate. Due to its explosive nature, the spell is very volatile, and although takes just a few minutes to cast, the mental prepareness required to control the forces requires a full month of preparation. To use CAST Detonate Organ <unit>. Required Foundations : Nature 3, Energy 3, Life 3. Spell Class : DEMOLITION Sniff Semtax (Demolition 2) : The mage summons forth a block of squishy stuff from a portal into the future. The unit shown this wonderous marvel of the 20th Century will be confronted with the urge to smell it. Upon doing so, the toxic waste from the nostrils, only found in the age old Atlantis populous, causes the block of plastic to explode, causing instant death to the sniffing party. This is in effect a suicide mission, as the mage is prone to blowing up along with the victims. Because of the mental anguish caused by the forthcoming demise of the mage is very troublesome, the spell requires a month to tie up affairs, write wills, kick the kids, etc etc. The spell is instantaneous and the target unit will be terminated by the next round. Due to the transportation of the plastique, the create portal spell must be used in conjunction with this one. To use CAST Sniff Semtex <unit> Required Foundations : Energy 3, Construct 3, Ethereal 1. Spell Class : DEMOLITION Tongue Tri Nitro Tolluene (Demolition 3) : The mage causes the tongue of an enemy to itch with extreme iritation causing the enemy unit to scratch the tongue with any available items to hand. If the unit is equiped with swords, then this is the item of choice due to it's pointed end. However, this is where the spell takes it's full force into effect. The static electric charge formed from the rubbing of the tongue, coupled with the conductive material in the sword, cause the Tri-Nitro-Tolluene (T-N-T), which causes the itching, to explode. The unit is crippled and dies a quick blasting death. It is a month long as the Mage has to get the Hell out of the way before all hell break loose. Use CAST TTNT <unit>. Required Foundations : Energy 5, Construct 3,. Spell Class : DEMOLITION Faction Meltdown (Demolition 4) : The mage taps into the future via a previously cast portal spell. The mage then calls forth the elements of radioactivity, carbon rods and Elvis Presley, and sets in motion a nuclear reaction in the region. All units in the region are instantly vaporised into booties from Foot Locker, and all units in surrounding regions are affected by a great plague which will make them die in three turns. The drawback is that the Mage's faction is also wiped out as the brain drain to cast the spell uses up the cortexes of all the faction members. Oh well! At least you go out with a bang!! Use the CAST Faction Meltdown order to cast this spell. Required foundations : Energy 5, Construct 5, Life 5, Sing the Blues 5. More from us later. Spell Syndicate ---------------------------------------------------------- From: "D.J. McGaw" <u3djm@csc.liv.ac.uk> Subject: More Fake Spells Date: Mon, 5 Jun 1995 14:45:13 +0100 (BST) You thought you got away with just a few, well you're wrong, coz we have devised a whole lot more. Get a load of this! Spell Class : ENCHANTMENT Charm Groupies (Enchantment 3) : A mage with this skill can cast the spell at anytime and charm away a band of groupies from any rock or pop star they wish. This is an easy spell to cast and only takes a minute or two of the mage's time. The CAST order is used to implement this spell. To use CAST Charm Groupies <New Kids on the Block>. Required Foundations : None! Available to all, so PLEASE use it! Spell Class : ENGINES Create Jumpship (Engines 1) : A mage can summon a Jumpship from the distant future and make use of it for one whole turn. The mage can enter the Jumpship and bounce around in it all he wants on the various trampolines and trampets therin, to the tune "Jump around" by some rap band. The music is option and accessed via the -M switch after the CAST order. To cast this spell CAST Create Jumpship [-M]. Required Foundations : Construct 1, Joviality 1. Spell Class : ENGINES Create Improbability Drive (Engines 2) : The mage conjours up an improbability drive that should really be here due to it's existence being so improbable. The mage spends a good two minutes creating the drive engine, and the rest of the month figuring out why it is so improbable that it shouldn't exist when it actually does. The improbability drive, although highly improbable, is quite probably the most improbable improbability drive imaginable. In fact the most obvious point about it's improbability is that it would be quite probable to produce an improbability drive, if it was only just as improbable to produce a probable probility drive. Howeve, as the improbability drive is quite improbable, and the probability drive is also improbable, then the whole question of probability goes out the window when asked about the Babel fish whic is another matter altogether. The drive itself is a small hexagonal box with a plug and cable connected to a transwarp plotter and a dangly bit immersed in a brownian motion generator (like a good hot cup of tea) and is used by plugging it into a Hyperdrive Sonic Compatible Warp-coilled Hydraulic winch. All of which is quite useless as there is no ship available to fly the bastard thing in this time anyway. Required Foundations : Construct 5, Dimensional Warping 1, Tea Making 1. If anyone is getting sick of this, let me know and I'll cut it out! Until then!!!!!
