We are sorry to see the loss of life at our colony and promise vengence for those who lost their life. The QSN were awed by the might posessed by the FGZ and the WCE. Such a battle fleet is of historic porportions. The enemy has finally shone its colors and now we will fight. We are allowing those members of the above two affliations to avoid combat as strategic strikes against our enemies will now commence. When failure results from such agression, we will deal with those two affliations in a fair manner. This the Coilox has promised. Your leadership has lead you in the path of war. You will be the ones who suffer for it. The QSN hopes to avoid unnecessary bloodshed, but we do not know how to avoid those factions in your affliations that have lead you down this path. We will make every effort to do so. When you tire of the war, we will treat you in judicious manner. We respect the rights of affliations to claim space and regulate it. We also have some problems with some of the claims of some of your members as it conflicts with previous agreements with the respective member states. Currently we do not have a problem with claims the WCE and the SAM have made for your respective space. Our problems with the third affliation could have been resolved more peacefully, but the issue is complicated now. The WCE and the FGZ have now killed QSN citizens in a series of secret manuvers and peace has now been made more complicated. The QSN has not denied the right of any government to govern its space, but we also have a right to have disagreements with said governments. We do not have problems with the THC basic right to divide up the Transhole, but we now have problems with your affliation and the FGZ. If you feel violence is the path you want to take to resolve your disagreements, then we will exercise our right to use violence to resolve our disagreements. If the WCE have the desire to end this conflict, then please contact the Maalox and discuss it with him. Until then, you have started a war and we will deal with it as we feel we must. The trouble, of course, is that "total security" makes a code useless, the less secure, the more useful. In the "old system", you could be pretty free with the code (i.e., make good use of this game mechanic) secure in the knowledge that you couldn't be ripped off. This is not, I think, a bad thing. The fact that everyone seems to aknowledge the tactic in question as "cheating" would place prevention of it well withing the GM's realm. As to the notion that "interference either exists or it doesn't" - I'd have to say "hogwash." In fact rules changes ARE "interference", I'd even call processing turns "interference," certainly preventing cheating is interference. Predictable, judicious, reliable, and fair "interference" is what a GM does all day. My universe is, evidently, comprised of far more shades than is your own. The Lady Gail Krieger and their childern, two boys, Jas (pronounced "Jase") age 12 and Alx (pronounced "Alex", nickname "AJ") age 6 and a girl, Kris, age 8, landed in a private yacht to a welcoming crowd of over 20,000 citizens. After a few months as Governor of EEM Eagle, Dr. Krieger and Lady Krieger determined, via commlink, that the colony will be the new permanent home for this branch of the extensive Krieger family tree. Confirming reports that "Lady Gail", as she is already becoming affectionately known, has acted as a respected advisor to Dr Krieger in the past, the Governor has appointed her as Lieutenant Governor of EEM Eagle, responsible for a large portion of the management of the colony. This appointment was met by unanimous approval by all. Asked by a reporter how he felt about finally being reunited with his family, Dr. Krieger replied, "Absolutely fantastic! This is a day that I've waited for, for a long time. However, I guess I may have to cut back on my poker a bit!" The "poker" that Dr. Krieger refers to, is a game that is rapidly becoming almost legendary, it is attended by some of the leaders of the most powerful groups in space. Some of the reports that stem from what goes on during the game border on the fantastic, however, one cannot help but to wonder how much the "game" of business is often played during the "game" of poker. Rob - --------------------- Forwarded message: Subj: 'Spur's Actions at Never Here Date: 95-06-05 00:27:03 EDT From: RFN2 To: Jackmyster CC: RFN2 Den of Earth: Upon reviewing everything we have on the ship's actions, its captain (from past experiences to psycho-profiles) I am certain of the following: LCDR. Igor Dragonnesky was born and raised at the colony Kiss and did very well as he rose through the starcaptain ranks over the last few years. Unfortunately; like your FGZ-P, he did not always act with the highest respect for this office or his superiors in general. He was one of three Ultra-Pro-FET/IMP/Human starcaptains in the FET ranks. He was responsible for scouting the colony defenses, he was attacked by a ground party calling itself "Self Defense"; and his response was to set up his own GP (with his younger brother in charge). This GP was the FET KLF; and it's instructions were to attack any "aggressor" that threatened the ship as it left the colony. The ship was destroyed (without inflicting ANY damage upon the colony) as it left the colony. The KLF, acting out it's instructions from Igor Dragonnesky, was also destroyed when it attacked the colony (the KLF did destroy two Ground Bombers which were defending the colony). Somethings that I believe: Igor was trying to prove that the colony was acting/or perpetuating an IMP postable offense -yet, he didn't have time to prove it. I think his goal was to keep supplying the KLF, and when the colony was IMP posted, he would attack. Also, it is the strong opinion of this office that the other two starcaptains mentioned above will strongly examine their current sentiments regarding their ultra conservative beliefs. That the rest of the FET will stay neutral in their actions; as long as the colony is not IMP posted. And finally; it is my own opinion that Igor acted in a way that suited himself. He did what he wanted to do......I remember him fighting the SSL during the last war, his ship ablaze in the sky above me as he defended Clove, on the vidscreen in front of me he smiled with an SSL cigar clenched in his teeth as he gave his best even while receiveing the same from the SSL......... and in some way I wish that there were more like him. We humans do not look at honor with the same eyes that the Flagritz do; so while it may be clear to you whether LCDR Igor Dragonnesky lived and died honorably; it will take me a moment to seperate my emotions from the issue, and then I'll decide. This time forces of the WCE, Deathhead Brigade, launched an attack on our colony. We are gladdened to see the WCE show its colors instead of using surrogates as before. The Maalox has announced his displeasure at the backtalking the WCE has used throughout this situation. The Maalox was quoted saying, "Can't those people get it straight. Do they want war or peace?." The Dreddlox who has primary responsibility for the Transhole was unhappy to hear this latest development. The WCE said they would come and negoiate for PortRude. At the same time, they launch another attack. The SMS were lucky we did not sell as they would have bought a conquered colony. Until the WCE can get their story straight, the QSN will not discuss peace. Lord Anton Qutroh has this statement: The QSN will strike a blow against oppressive governments who under the guise of governance take away all rights of its people. The point of good government is to create a better place for those they govern where rights are enhanced not restricted by their governance. The QSN has had property that we have owned for some time now striped away and attacked. Where was the notice of any law being broken. As far as we can see, the only law in most of the Transhole is law of dominance (or more simply what I want is what is correct). If a government's only basis for existence is self-preservation and enrichment by the use of force, then only force will stop them. The QSN warns all others to beware. Do not spend your energies building a life out there as it will only be taken away when they find it valuable. Lord Anton Qutroh Minister of Propaganda ------------------------------ From: LUDENDORF@delphi.com Date: Wed, 07 Jun 1995 00:21:00 -0400 (EDT) Subject: BSE: RIP Destroy Highports Not that I care, since the RIP did me a favor by removing something that I considered a security risk from Jax, and I don't intend to rebuild it either, But what I found curious about the whole battle was that RTG allowed the ship to attack multiple hiports before triggering the battle. As I understand the rules, it attacks one hiport, triggering battle. Colony fires, ship dies, that simple. Yet here it was allowed to attack "2" hiports first, without triggering a battle with any of the 3 colonies on the planet (all target RIP) or the ICN DN in orbit (run by a veteran player, not a newbie, fully decked out and targetting RIP), or the USS warships in orbit (both capital ships). Assuming the ship entered orbit cloaked (most likely way to avoid instant triggering of a battle), then it would be blind as the cloak also blocks it's own sensors (no sensors, not able to see what it's shooting at). It drops the cloak, then the colonies & ships see it. RTG, is this another change? Can a ship now clear out multiple hiports before dying? If so I have some ideas of my own here.
