Golden and Vanya didn't team up this tourney. :) Also, _last_ tourney you and Nigel teamed up and were the highest power team in the 2nd group and easily won the 2nd group. My team of Golden/Sxar was 50 power above you and stuck in the top group, and yes, we got the living snot kicked out of us. I warned you and everyone that Hugh would again stick a lower team or two in the top group and to plan ahead. If you had teamed up Winterslope/Thorron instead of Thorron/Drax, you would have been the 3rd or 4th highest power team in the top group. But I do think for next tourney Hugh should make 1 or 2 NPC teams to fill out the top group, as it's a sorry day getting my ass stomped by a team 3000 power above us. I would say it's your own fault on not gaining WSP for not staying with just one weapon your entire career and not parrying 100% for almost all that time. Your guys have 30 some turns on Ripjack, Golden, and Vanya. Fenrir has had the same WSP learning problems as he scattered his turns into training in all sorts of different weapons and trying out dodging instead of parrying. When I ran Lobo for 1 1/2 years, even with parrying 100% and attacking with just the broadsword, I learned maybe 1 or 2 WSP, so maybe it's just me and you (well, and Boran ;)). Then again, I was using his Trip 8 a lot and that used up a lot of his actions... Mike (Golden, etc) ***** Subject: Re: AG-turnie(ick) From: sean <sean@alpha2.csd.uwm.edu> On Sat, 17 Jun 1995, T. Devote to Wokrob for easy +1 level Magic Resistance for any race...or find those Dusty Red scrolls for more easy Magic Resistance levels. The bonus on Trip for dwarves is nice, but at the higher levels, Trip 8 was pretty worthless. If it didn't go up through use, I'd advocate 5 or 10 experience points per level to raise, but otherwise 15 EP sounds about right to me. It'd be nice to see the range extended even more on headbutt, at least just for minos.... >> Also headbutt is alot harder to dodge then a normal weapon >> attack. If we are talking just in guild fights. Trip skill is non-existant against certain monster types like Spiders, Oozes, etc. If I had to pick 2 skills out of tail whip, kicking, tripping, head butt, I'd go with kicking and head butt. At higher levels tail whip level 15 is essentially worthless, and trip 8 (and even Sxar's level 9) is also pretty worthless against opponents of equal or higher power with decent dex/cunning. >> headbutt (especially with a mino) chances are you'll daze your opponent. >> This CAN be devastating, allowing you to defeat an opponent you wouldn't >> normally be able to defeat. Again, combine headbutt with natural hide I agree. I think the headbutt skill even at level 6 does more damage than a level 10 kick or so. >I actually landed a head butt on one character out of 15 tourney fights. >I did win that fight, but surely that is not why I did well in it. As with any skill, you basically have to specialize in that and that alone to see some really good results. Even better would be to base your starting design and all of your training towards getting free headbutt levels, with using a weapon as a secondary matter. It can be done! :) As for mino stat costs, I really don't want to get into that. :) I was stuck running my mino for 2 years or so and saw it was a hopeless cause.
