ATLANTISv2 atl-players-digest #89 From: csd@microplex.com (Christian Daudt) Date: Mon, 12 Jun 1995 00:00:00 +0000 I thought I was going to get thousands of responses asking me to keep this digest (maybe I just wanted to massage my ego ;-)) But I received enough responses, so I'll keep the digest going. ---------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 12 Jun 1995 00:09:07 -0500 (CDT) From: Lazarus <llong@io.com> Subject: Re: ATLANTIS2.0 I'm glad you got yours, but I didn't get mine. Hi to all worried persons! If you have not got your reports until now, this is probably due to one of the new spells: Prevent e-mail (ethereal 5): If this spell is cast, your enemy will not receive any turn report this week, this is a month long spell... No, if you have do not received any turn reports , it would be good NOT to flame the players list. I guess if there is a problem, Geoff will deal with it, or it takes some time for the higher faction numbers to reach it. Mailing to about 700 people Reports and Times TAKES some time SO please keep cool and wait. If there is a really LONG delay should ask Geoff about it, but not because of some hours! I guess this is asking too much from Geoff, who does all this fro FREE, You are expecting him to sit each weekend at the same time in front of his computer and doing the atlantis work. I guess it is only fair to leave it open to him, what he does on Sunday night, and when he starts running Atlantis. If you pay for a game, you can expect early reports, but you do not pay here! Sorry Geoff, if I am not right, but I think it is boring to read about this "I have no turn report" all the time. I have my turn report, and as I said: Keep Cool, Andreas ---------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 12 Jun 1995 19:31:22 +1000 (EST) From: Vaughan Latimer <vlatimer@hilbert.maths.utas.edu.au> Subject: Re: ATLANTIS2.0 How strange?! It took 80 minutes to do up to faction 400. Yet it has taken 7 hours to get to 550's. A bit of difference. A point to ponder. A confused Frog. Thanx a lot for all, Geoff. (To those all that are allways sending the "I haven't my report yet" messages just only a thing: remember the PBM (play by mail, not e-mail) game turns where, when playing a another country's game you must way near two weeks between turns (at least in my case)). ---------------------------------------------------------- From: Mike Inman <nims@cris.com> Date: Mon, 12 Jun 95 08:05:06 -400 Subject: The current report For the record, as of 8AM EDT, faction 546's report has not arrived. McGaw" <u3djm@csc.liv.ac.uk> Subject: General Points Date: Mon, 12 Jun 1995 16:39:22 +0100 (BST) Hello All, I have a few points to make so please read all the gunk in this mail, as it may have summit to do with you. Firstly, Duplicate mail. I can only apologise to all concerned who have received two (or more) mails from me via the players list. It may be an alias problem which I am currently sorting. In the mean time, please bear with me, and mail me if it happens again. Secondly, To all the newbies out there! I love to help you guys, but can you PLEASE be a bit more specific. I have been inundated with requests such as : Dear Dave Can you help me, signed A newbie! How the heck am I supposed to help you? Please let me know more gunk on what you need (or what info you are after). Thirdly, The spells syndicate that is running, with me at the admin end, love to entertain questions for profit, (this is a point of the game - making money) or donations of information. But people simply wanting to know more about usare again hitting the newbie fault. WHAT do you want to know? For the second and third points, BE Specific! Fourthly, To the members of the Syndicate. You lads know that I'm revamping the structures and I'll have the revised list and all the spell descriptions to you ASAFP. I have redesigned the structure, it's basic but effective, to account for all new entries as well as any three foundation spells. I'll be in touch. Fifthly, doesn't this mail go on? Everyone is complaining about their turn reports but I say BACK OFF! Geoff is doing a damn fine job, and you will get it eventually. There are now over 800 factions for him to deal with, so GIVE HIM ABREAK! It's not likely you'll get it AFTER the next turn is due, so don't panic. Finally, one last point, (hurrah) I recently got a job! (miracle - who'd hire Dave?) so be patient with any mail you send me as I will get back in touch eventually. I will be checking my mail every night (after 5pm) so you should get a reply after 6pm our time! One last point, I have disregarded all NON-SPECIFIC mail, so mail me again if you want a reply. Regards as ever Dave Up
