Well, they are not hopeless, but... What is the major Mino skill? Head Butt, right? Well, my head butt skill was attempted during two fights out of 15! What is the justification of the mino penalties? An elf can use magic with a good multiplier A halfling has good dex multiplier plus good multipliers on trip, which can be used reguardless of opponents size, lock picking, avoid traps. An ogre has good str multiplier plus cheap bezerk rage, which can be used reguardless of opponents size. Lizardmen get reasonable str plus tail whip which can be used against any opponent. Not to mention better natural hide than minos. Even half trolls can use regenerate every fight. Dwarfs, humans, half elves, and gobolins are all good characters. Minos, on the other hand, can use their major asset head butt ONLY if they are in short range <This is not too bad> AND ONLY IF THEIR OPPONENT IS WITHIN A CERTAIN HEIGHT. This limits mino's major skill substantially. Every other race has a skill or statistic multiplier that can be taken advantage of. Head butt can only be used as a secondary weapon due to the fact that it is seldom used unlike trip and kick which can be used reguardless of opponents height. This results in the development of a mino that uses weapons for it's major offensive damage. With mino's poor stat multipliers it is at a dissadvantage. If head butt could be useful a mino could consentrait on being a head butt menace, but they are stuck with poor stat multipliers and no useful cheap skill multipliers. How does this not put mino's at a dissadvantage? I personally run a mino with a level 6 head butt. It is used so infrequently that I am rather shocked when I see it work. I have never bought a level due to it's infrequent use and 15 multiple. I think some things that could be considered to help the mino's would be things like lowering the str multiplier. If that would be a problem, how about making each point of str worth more for mino's? Just multiply the current str of mino's by, say, 1.2, round off the result, and use that for the mino str. Nothing would change on stat sheets, just the numbers used to figure str in the game program. Could also drop the head butt multiple to 10 for mino's. Perhaps even add another skill into the game that mino's could excell at. What about a cheaper multiple for combat sence? Keep in mind that these are just ideas I am tossing out, not flame bait.
