Lord Soteki, 1) I do not share your philosophy of life. Some lifeforms are scum. That's a fact of life. 2) No, I am not saying the WCE-QSN are at war. I'll leave that for the politicans <PD's> to decide. We have stated all Qumans are prohibited from the Upper Transhole - except for the amnesty granted QSN Minh-Ky. It's our space. It's our right to exclude whom we choose. Cross us and you will risk Minh-Ky as well. 3) You won't have to stand by and watch the WCE attack any more Quman colonies in the Upper Transhole. Once Portrude is eliminated, there won't be any. 4) Fight, or don't fight with whom you please. 5) You don't know me or you would not ask this question. Since January the warships under my direct command have sortied on six combat missions and been involved in five battles. Enter WCE space with just one Quman ship or 100, and someone will surely die. You've been warned. It's your choice whether you chose to escalate or capitulate. Until the time comes when the polictians work out a cease fire my starcaptains will continue to collect Quman pelts. It takes place in the Inner Empire region around 095 and the Empire didn't do so hot against the KTR & ERN in this alternate history. Affiliations in the game will be IMP, EEM, SSL, USS, SMS, & GTT (all with somewhat different special abilities then what they have in the current game). Alien races will be the KTR (Kutarians), ERN (Erinyes), & MIR (Mirraaf). The playing field will be 12 systems. Ship designs & tech will also be different. It's a seperate game & database that will have nothing to do with the existing game since it's an alternate universe. I've gotten an agreement from RTG to moderate the scenario provided enough players are interested (I figure about 30 or 40 are needed to make it interesting). So anybody else interested in playing? Armbruster IV. "It is time for GTT to move forward," offers Lord Whispers, "we've completed the transition of moving our headquarters from Bome to Gaspree, have successfully divested ourselves of ungainly assets, gained important new technologies, and have reorganized ourselves to be able to project our influence in all three major regions: the Periphery, the Trans-Hole, and in the Trans-Canally." "I commend the efforts Barnes, Carlton, Marks, and my predessor Lord Armbruster to grow GTT to the industrial power that it is today, however, the board elected me as Chairman to make major changes and to improve profitability. I appreciate the old council's assistance in the transition, but with new blood in our Executive Council we can complete our reorganization." Whispers continues "In our search for a new Executive Council, I'm considering all possibilities, including even offering positions to those not born in the Periphery or Inner Empire, or even possibily recruiting someone from a non-human race. We need diversity to handle the challenges of the new era." "If someone qualified does come to us from another affiliation, we will be glad to offer that affiliation a 'finder's fee' in gratitude as well as compensating them for any assets that the new council member may be bringing with them to the GTT." Lord Whispers will be accepting resume's and applications at GTT Gaspree for the following: Chief Information Officer (CIO), Chief Defense Officer (CDO), and Chief Exploration Officer (CXO). Lord Whispers will continue to be acting as Chief Executive Offier (CEO). The former Exective Council, Lord Martin Barnes, Lady Susan Carlton, Admiral Terrence Marks, and the former CEO Lord Armbruster are said to be retiring to a resort world in the Inner Empire, and could not be reached for comment. Position of Chief Information Officer (CIO) - ------------------------------------------- You will be responsible for the management of information and research for the GTT. You will guide the overall direction of GTT's Research Colonies, including running at least one yourself. You will be given free run of GTT's extensive labs to explore alien artifacts and reverse engineer needed technologies. You will be responsible for co-ordinating with other affiliations the licensing or even sale of master tapes. The GTT libraries will be yours, and you will be charged with distributing information from it to others GTT members. You will keep a master list of all colony markets, and help distribute information on GTT's markets to other affilitions. And of course, if you have any pet project of your own we'll give you all the assistance that you need to complete it. [OOC] I expect that this will be the least expensive GTT political position to run -- approximately $6 to $12 a month in colony fees, plus one or two ships or ground party turns a month at $10 each, and one 'duty' warship whose turns will only be run approximately every 40 weeks. Thus it is possible to accept this position of you have a game budget of $16 to $32 a month. However, I envision this position to require quite a bit of 'paper' work -- for instance collecting and collating information from all members on markets and research into a database and distributing it. And of course, as is required for all GTT political positions, you must be available available on the internet via email. [end-OOC] Position of Chief Defense Officer (CDO) - --------------------------------------- You will be responsible for the defense of GTT's assets, ranging from colonies in the Periphery, Trans-Hole and Trans-Canally, to stargates and research parties scattered out through the galaxy. You are not expected to command the entire defensive fleet by yourself, but to co-ordinate carefully with other GTT members the distribution of 'duty' warships that are fully outfitted and installed with rec-decks ready for action at any time. How pro-active you wish to be to pursue the RIP and such trouble-makers such as IND Atlantis is up to you, but the GTT will fully support any such efforts. [OOC] The player responsible for this position will run at least one colony at $6 a month, but is primarily responsible to run 10 of our best 'duty' warships whose turns only have to be run every 40 weeks or so. Co-ordinated carefully this player can ration the 'duty' ships such that they will cost him only $10 a month. This position is also required to help co-ordinate and distribute the remaining 'duty' warships to other GTT members so that all share in the costs. The typical monthly commitment of the CDO should be $16 to $26 a month, but the player must be prepared for a (hopefully rare) $60 to $120 month should there be trouble. Running a small fleet of seek-and-destroy ships to actively pursue RIP and other troublesome targets is up to the discretion of the player. And of course, as is required for all GTT political positions, you must be available available on the internet via email. [end-OOC] Position of Chief Exploration Officer (CXO) - ------------------------------------------- You will be responsible for co-ordinating the exploration efforts of the GTT, as well as be responsible for setting up at least one Trade Colony in the Draconian and Nexus Regions. You are charged with assisting those GTT members who wish to establish colonies by helping them with prospecting, as well as help explore the areas around existing colonies for new assets. You will help new GTT members by distributing star charts and planetary databases, as well as advise them on best prospects for further exploration. [OOC] The CXO is expected to run at least a couple of ships and ground parties, making this position a little more expensive to run. I'd anticipate that you should budget at least $30 to $50 a month. You will not need to run a colony in the beginning but you are charged with at least starting up two colonies in the Draconian and Nexus Regions which you may wish pass on to other GTT members once established. Like the CIO, I anticipate that there will be alot of "paper" work required in this position, primarily just documenting findings and creating ASCII maps of new places. And of course, as is required for all GTT political positions, you must be available available on the internet via email. [end-OOC] Position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) - ----------------------------------------- I am charged with managing the overall direction of the GTT, recruiting new members, as well as specifically managing the production of GTT's three "Trade Centers" -- one colony in each major region. In addition to running these three colonies and their large markets, I will be co-ordinating the trade and transport of raw materials to our colonies and finished goods to other markets. I am responsible for contracts with other companies, Imperial relations, treaties with alien affiliations, as well as being a active member of the ACCC Council and the StarGate Alliance. [OOC] I will be carrying approximately 5 'duty' ships as well as a small fleet of cargo vessels for trade. I am committing about $60 each month between the colonies and ship turns. And of course, I'll be available via email as well as offering a private site on the internet for storing GTT files. If you decide to continue playing BSE, I would like to encourage you to join our Galactic Transport & Trade (GTT) affiliation. GTT is a imperially chartered affiliation in the human Empire. In addition to profit, the goal of GTT is to be a stabilizing force in the galaxy. We are a small company in people, but huge in wealth--some of the wealthiest colonies in known space are ours. We need new recruits to defend our shipping, explore new worlds, and work with us to restrain the excesses of the Empire, other human affiliations, and the alien powers. To reach these goals, we will upgrade your new ship to a state-of-the-art design, and outfit you with what you need to be a force in the game. Unlike other affiliations, I expect that GTT members will primarily electronic mail for communications. This should give us a strategic advantage over other affiliations that do most of their coordination only by phone or paper mail. One of the advantages of email is that we can also share information easier--I am working on making electronic versions of many of the documents, system maps, technology info, exploration & treasure clues, etc. in the game, and will make them freely available to all new GTT recruits, rather then hording them among a few. This will allow you to better introduce you to the game and plan your tactics better. If you wish to immediately join GTT, write on the top of your next turn sheet "Join GTT", and use the command Accept Coordinator #180--this is a zero TU action. I will see your ship on my next political position printout. In addition to profit, the goal of GTT is to be a stabilizing force in the galaxy. In terms of material wealth, GTT is the richest affiliation in known space. Some GTT colonies dwarf the size of entire affiliations. History - ------- The GTT was formed in the year 27 by the flamboyant entrepreneur Lee I. Prescott. By the year 41 the GTT had controlled one of the four major colonies located on Earth's moon, GTT Victoria. The governor of GTT Victoria built his population up to nearly 20,000 and in 47 discovered an unusual ore on Luna. This turned out to be PULAC CRYSTALS and enabled GTT to develop the first crude JUMP ENGINES. The GTT patented the new technology and became firmly established as the richest corporation in the Republic. During the First Rebellion the GTT supported the Empire with equipment. Because of this GTT received the first Imperial Charter under the Free Trade Convention. By the end of the year GTT had a virtual stranglehold on trade. The AFT was formed as a result. This affiliation took many of the GTT trade routes. Instead of fighting, the GTT moved into the more lucrative role of supplier. GTT Gaspree was built on planet Petroom in year 180, and started GTT's long history in the Periphery, including fighting with the SMS, suffering mind control from a creature known as the "Water Demon", and battles against the FOE, DTR, and MYR in the Trans-Canally. However, recently, GTT has been less active in war and has been much more active in trade. It even has established friendly trade with the DTR and MYR. The GTT historically has an incredible loyalty to the Emperor. Some say that this loyalty is almost fanatical. In fact, GTT has often been seen as the power behind the throne. However, GTT has recently been frustrated by recent IMP rules and regulations that seem to be an attempt to keep the GTT from direct contact with the Emperor. Thus the GTT have become suspicious that some members of the IMP affiliations may not be serving the best interests of the Emperor or of the Empire. This potential instability not only may cause harm to the Emperor, but also threatens profitability. This is of significant concern to the GTT. Historically allied with the SSL, the GTT has good relations with most affiliations. Among GTT recent allies were two warring factions; the QSN and WCE. A good relationship with both put GTT in a poor position between. In addition, the WCE had support by treaty of IMP against the QSN--so when IMP came a calling, the GTT for the first time had to turn them down. This has lead to GTT's new policy to expand it's stabilizing influence outside of the Periphery and into both the Trans-Hole and Trans-Canally regions. Goals - ----- The GTT seeks to continue to be a stabilizing force in the Periphery, but now also seeks to establish a strong presence in the Trans-Hole and Trans-Canally in order to offer an example of stability in these chaotic regions. In the last year GTT has successfully divested itself of extraneous assets, and has acquired a colony in the Trans-Canally, completing GTT's goal to have a Trade Center in every major region. We need to grow these Trade Centers to at least class 6 by the end of the year. GTT will take advantage of recent opportunities to emphasize the "Transport" portion of its name. In the short term this means that GTT will design and make available a number of new transport ships in regions where the EEM monopoly does not exist. In the long term, as the originator of JUMP ENGINES and with its unique knowledge of STARGATES, the GTT will establish a class 8 research colony to further enhance the nature of "Transport." GTT will continue to use its production advantages to stabilize the commodity marketplace while Depot Colonies are being constructed. This includes continuing it's polity of keeping available at many GTT colonies at least 4,000 mu's of the most commonly manufactured items at 5 stellars a mass unit--an incredibly low price. As it has always done, GTT will be at the forefront of any exploration and exploitation of new regions found in the Galaxy. By the end of 195 GTT will establish at least one colony in a stellar system not currently accessible via jump drive. During the recent Interregnum, GTT lost access to many rare unique items stored at GTT Gaspree due to the unknown force known as "the ex-GM". The 195 the GTT will reestablish a museum near GTT Gaspree and begin restocking its contents. Special Abilities - ----------------- * GTT colonies received 20% more man-hours from their COLONISTS than other affiliations. * GTT's REPAIRBOTS can repair twice as much in the same amount of time. * GTT ships my perform STARGATE movement for half the TU's of a normal affiliation. Technologies - ------------ * GTT has master tapes for the two best tanks: the ASSAULT TANK--a top-notch shuttle capable tank that can also carry troops, and the PULSAR TANK--the best defensive tank with the most bang per mass unit. * GTT has master tapes for the CYBER-MIND DISRUPTER. * GTT has a unique STARGATE design that can defend itself. Political Structure - ------------------- The GTT is controlled by it's Chairman & CEO (formerly known as the Periphery Director), who also holds the post as governor of GTT Colony Gaspree. He or she is assisted in decision making by a Vice Chairman and COO, and by Defense, Information, and Exploration Officers.
