ME-PBM Late Joiners From: Kevin McGee <kdmcgee@aol.com> Date: Fri, 23 Jun 1995 00:00:00 +0000 I had something happen to me recently in a game of ME-PBM and I would like to hear other players' opinions on it. In a grudge game, 10 x 10, my team contacted all the neutrals on the first turn and continued to communicate with them to offer them a place on our team. We spoke to all of the neutrals and 4 of them expressed an interest in joining one side or another. One neutral, the Corsairs said that, "Oh, I'm just fooling around with this game. I don't plan on joining one side or another or getting involved with anyone else. I'll probably drop after X turns." As it turns out, all the neutrals either joined our team (1), or perished (3). Except the Corsairs. Now it is down to my team against one opposing player and guess what? The Corsairs are suddenly on our side and in first place. I understand that the game system allows/encourages this, but my question is; What's the point? Is this winning by skillful play or diplomacy? Is the point of these games playing and winning, or just winning? Kevin McGee Referenced By Up
