kriegspiel recruits From: kolley@worldaccess.nl (Thomas Kolley) Date: Fri, 23 Jun 1995 00:00:00 +0000 Dear reader, We are a group of 16+ wargamers, who play wargames since 1990. Mostly WWII althought we also had battles like Huehnerwasser 1866 according to the original prussian Kriegspiel rules or the Battle of the Falklands in WWI. Next week the first move of our new game WESTFRONT Oct - Jan 1944 is coming up with the focus on a major German counteroffensive and the further allied advance. The German team is full except AOK 1 (1th army). The allied armys are still run by the UK and USA Players, except 3rd US Army. This position, which involve a great amount of work and costs for me are not free and cost DM 5 a move. The free position offers the following advantage. a. communication with all team members by orders and reports b. joining the game without costs The disadvantiges are a. You do not have the 1:200000 historical maps ore the front line with units and symbols every move as other player do. b. You must be in the picture by you on initiative requesting informations and making airial photos wich show smal peaces of the map and units or formations as attached files. c This positions are not forever but after a while it will cost you also a little money . How does it work: How to play (userfriendly soort of ...) 1. You need some BASIC MILITARY KNOWLEDGE (nato symbols, unit seize, some historical technical terms or asking much questions. Need to spend time and deliver a move EVERY 2 WEEKS with the required form. 2. You get a MAP, look at it find your units, friendly units and the enemy units, look at the terrain features concerning movement and battles. 3. Look at additional DATA: Time, dark, cloudy, mist, date, etc. 4. Read the incomming signals/orders, something four you, an order. Who do you need to contact. 5. Read the NARRATIVE, to know what did happen the last 2 or 3 hours or the last day, whatever scenario you play (New game no narrative). 6. Look at the ORDER OF BATTLE for your available units, their strengh in man and tanks. 7. Read the STABSBLATT for additional information. 8. ACT TO THE SITUATION, do nothing, order an movement of a unit/formation or an attack or whatever units are abel to do in reality. This is done by orders in a mil/hist stylish way. 9. SEND the order/signals to the gamemaster and WAIT for the reply with new map, new signals and new narative and new order of battle with losses etc. 1st move must be in befor next thuresday. At the present time very 3 weeks = 1 historical day a move is processed. After this it will be every 2 weeks. How do you communicate with other players. On your level it could be quite informal like -------------------------------------------- 21 Army Group Haedquarter 3rd august 1944 MOST SECRET Dear Air Marshall txt txt Yours Sincererly, /s/ Harry Filed Marshall Name --------------------------------------------------- On the German side there would be only a Luftwaffe Chief commando (I must take it from a player) or a Festungscommandant Metz at the same conditions. But there might be a language problem since this team is only of german and german swiss player. Our player are between 18 and 40 years old, mostly students but also several with a (former) military background. When you are interestet state wich position you want. I send you the data available. Than you answer wether or not you join on short term. Thomas Kolley ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Up
