The player of faction 741 (bca_94@rbk.sollentuna.se) can't use his internetaccount during the summer (it is at his school) so he is using my account until august. That's why my adress is everywhere. I explained this to Geoff some weeks ago. There is also stealing, but no-one ever does that... > Each of them and all together do not allow to buy and to > maintance such number of people. > Could you expalin me how you have got such result, please. I started in the second ever turn of the game. At that point you could easily buy 25 HEL in a turn if you claimed all your money. That is what I did. I havebeen buying HEL ever since. The current purchase value of the troops in that unit is 135*60= $8100 This unit is my personal bank vaultI give it all my income, and it pays my expenses. With it working to support my activities, I studied long and hard to reach Level 5 Observation. No-one can steal from me without possible magical aid, and the unit is too big to assassinate. It is allied with the city guards, and so is reasonably invulnerable. The unit now earns $2000+ a month working in Atlantis City. Most of this is maintainence, but there's about $700 spare to maintain my other units in the city. I have a standing order to buy 200 HEL a month. It usually has enough money to buy about 75 HEL, and currently actually gets about 5 a round at this demand. These gradually generate more revenue to enableme to buy more elves etc. My biggest ever real claim was when I had enough to buy 104 HEL in one turn > Besides, I noticed > that some factions give to you their units. What for? Some people have had to go away for 12 weeks for the summer holidays. I asked allies and friends if rather than quitting, they would like to give me their units in Atlantis City as a friendly gesture. Two of them agreed, on the basis that I help them out with money and men when they re-start in October. I'll dothat, and they'll know that in the meantime their time spent in Atlantis city was of some use - it helped a friend. I do not believe this is a rules breach any more than swapping troops around in an allience is. > Of course, if it is not your commersial secret. It doesn't need to be a secret because conditions in atlantis city currently prevent any newer factions from following this course of action. There is at least one other faction in Atlantis city, however, that is in a similar situation, which I believe followed a similar policy. Anywhere else this policy is un-needed, because you can gain income much more easily by tax etc. To those of you who have suggested I attack the city guards, I say this : I would need an extra two mages with certain spells, plus 70 more HEL. All my (untrained) unit would have to be trained to COM 3. With this I could just win I believe. However, then the ravening hordes in Atlantis city would unite and slaughter me for the tax money. I am safer in Atlantis city if I'm not the guard at the door - I have a safe base to send whatever troops I like out to anywhere in the Atlantis realm. I can instantly deploy in a new city if I so choose. However, I'm a War/Magic faction, soon to be pure Magic as the situation in Spakker calms down. So invasionof an area is hard because I can't tax. My mages are already beginning to make me a powerful player, but it is time, in the end, along with friendship, that has given me what power I have. I am indebted to the other members of the DOMINION, our alliance, who have trusted meand each other enough to build our own little Empire. My faction is nothing compared to the might of some war factions, but the skills I can provide are invaluable to them. The world will soon be full of war factions, the day of magic is coming, and I'll be there to greet its dawn! I hope those of you just joining this game have benefitted from the above somewhat. I'd just like to say that I don't sell elves ;-) Lord Viper. House Banshee (217) of the DOMINION. Date: Mon, 3 Jul 1995 19:21:47 +0100 (BST) I know what you mean, one player with two factions! It seems like a cheat and also that he may be cheating (I cannot vouch for him, whether he is or not is his affair) but as many of the players have summertime vactions now, other players usually take over the affairs of the faction of their friends to avoid them dying off. I am (hopefully) taking over a friends faction here in Liverpool, in a few weeks, so if you see my name and email address on two factions, don;t worry. Tim Nutman is joining the bizzies here, and I will be working by the University anyway, so factions 810 and 815 will be under my control in the near future (810 is mine, 815 is Tim's - check 'em). This may be what is happening here.
