One simple question. What happens if you form a unit but you forget or don't have enough siver to buy people? Yes this did happen to me and I didn't get a report on that unit, but I still found out what the number was by the error on the report. Do I buy people for it this turn or is the unit gone? HELP me i'm a newbie! GPD -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Magic Online Services Toronto Inc. I have renumbered the questions but otherwise left the original text alone. Before I post some answers, I want to strongly urge everyone to carefully read the latest rules before posting your questions to the list. Many, though not all, answers can be found that way, and it is both quicker for you as well as easier on bandwidth. There is also a good deal of information available on the WWW. A good starting URL is included in one of the answers below. >1)I'm a newbie and I have a war/magic faction, I was wondering how you tax >and if it's a good way to get silver? You tax by using the TAX order. Units issuing this order must be combat-ready, which is defined in the rules as having combat skill >= 1, or having crossbow or longbow skill >= 1 and having the appropriate kind of bows. Taxation is a fairly effective way of getting silver. Other options are WORKing, SELLing something, or getting another faction to GIVE silver to one of your units. >2)If your riding a horse from AC north then north east, you know that north >is a city because it says on the ac report. but how do you know what's in >north east? You don't until you get there, unless someone who knows tells you. I would think that this is pretty obvious. >3)does any body have a www page that has a map of Atlantis? There are several WWW pages that have information on them, including maps and newbie tips. I recommend starting with the following URL: http://www.csc.liv.ac.uk/users/u3jph/Atlantis/index.html This page contains links to many of the other Atlantis 2 web pages, as well as much useful information in its own right. >4) How many allys can you have? There rules do not impose a limit. >5) I studied nature 1 (30) and my report said nothing. And it said my >research area is forest, how do I learn spells? This covered fairly clearly in the rules. To acquire spells, first your mage must study one or more foundation skills. If the mage has the foundation skill levels necessary for a particular new spell, then a research area will be listed for that mage. The mage may either RESEARCH that research area, or another mage may give him the appropriate spell. >6) I have a question that I might know but i'm not sure about. In my orders I >buy 8 high elves, but when my orders get sent back to me I only get 1 elf, and >I have enough silver. Is this because to many people tried to buy elves that >turn? Yes. The demand for high elves and leaders is very great in Atlantis City, and pretty high in most of the gate cities. >7) What happens if you form a unit but you forget or don't have enough siver >to buy people? >Yes this did happen to me and I didn't get a report on that unit, but I still >found out what the number was by the error on the report. Do I buy people for >it this turn or is the unit gone? HELP me i'm a newbie! Any unit with no men is removed. All items that the empty unit is carrying are given to another unit of that faction in the same region. If there is no other such unit, then I think the items are lost. Unused unit numbers are recycled, so you will have to FORM another new unit this turn. Hope this helps. In the rules on every occasion when the rule states UNIT it means the unit number EXCEPT!!!! When naming a unit. NAME UNIT "Blah blah blah" Means type UNIT not UNIT# So Ie UNIT 4432 Name UNIT "Hand of Fate" Hope this works ---------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 3 Jul 1995 00:15:55 -0400 (EDT) From: Marc Siegel <ae485@freenet.toronto.on.ca> Subject: Re: TURN RESULTS On Sun, 2 Jul 1995, Bill Witt wrote: You got to have more patience then that, It could very well not be procced untill much later , what fraction are you? > HEY!!!!! > > It's been 15 minutes since the turns began being processed and I haven't > received my results yet. This list is meant for all players in the Atlantis 2.0. Mail sent to this list should be appropriate for all players of Atlantis 2.0. Rules questions should probably be sent to the moderator (atlantis@rahul.net), he can then forward the question and answer to the list. Role-playing is appropriate, but faction-to-faction email should not be sent to the list. To send mail to everyone on this list, send mail to: atl-players@tango.rahul.net Please include the word 'Atlantis' in your Subject line, so the other recipients of the list can identify your message. If you wish to be taken off of this list, just let me know, at atlantis@rahul.net. You do not need to be on this list to play Atlantis 2.0. Please note that I (atlantis@rahul.net) am _not_ on the list, so messages to be unsubscribed from the list, and other messages directed to me, should _not_ be sent to the list. Hopefully the list will run fine without moderation; if there are any problems, please let me know. ---------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 03 Jul 95 11:20:37 MET From: hugo <DENGST@CSEARN.BITNET> Subject: Atlantis-remove please, remove me from the players list thanks Hugo, Leader og the union of Hugos (505) ---------------------------------------------------------- From: Niclas Olofsson <m93nol@student.tdb.uu.se> Date: Mon, 3 Jul 1995 13:23:12 +0200 Subject: Re: More Newbie Questions 1) UNIT ## ;the two leaders FORM 1 ;make a new unit ;orders for first leader END GIVE NEW 1 1 LDR ;give one of the leaders to the new unit ;orders for second leader UNIT ## ;the others... 2) UNIT 1 ;the first leader GIVE 2 UNIT ;give him to unit number 2 UNIT 2 ;the second leader ;orders for both leaders 3) THEORY!! Since the battles are resolved one at a time unit C will first join A if that battle takes place first. Then when unit B is attacked C will help him too since C is still in hex C ie adjacent to B. It only says in the rules that it must be possible for unit C to go to A/B. He doesn't actually go there. So, since it's possible to launch attacks on several units in the same hex it should be possible to defend several units in adjacent hexes. Any experience of this situation???
