Loutzenheiser" <76311.2317@compuserve.com> Date: 14 Jul 95 16:45:39 EDT Subject: BSE: Production Queues I just thought of something. The way that production carry over now works will allow us to issue short tech licenses of say one or two weeks. With order processing the way it is, no one would want to issue such an order normally for fear that the week that the license was good would not be the week the the licensee would try to make the item. Under the new system I can make a deal for the near future. Put my build on my queue and then let it float to the top where it will be skipped over every week because of the lack of the tech. Then the short term license can be issued and once the order has been processed this item will be produced immediately. I think that this is great!!!!! And besides, the effect that this has on small colonies is the same as it was pre-1988 and we all seemed to overcome it. Buckup good fellows, this change is for the better. Kerry ------------------------------ From: nbradley@aloha.com Date: Fri, 14 Jul 1995 17:08:01 +0000 Subject: ENS "Unnamed" >WILL< Continue I had a phone call with Pete this morning. One of the things he mentioned was that there is a mis-conception here about a rule PROPOSITION that didn't happen. There is NOTHING in the rules about the ship captain/ship size limitation. RTG did NOT put it in the Rules, so it isn't there. He said that to counter this, there will now be "Crew Experrience". The new battle program will be much more involved, and yes, the rank of the Starcaptain will have a MAJOR impact on things. Example: a PB with a 'battle-hardened' Admiral will be able to give a DN with Ensign Unnamed a good run for his money, irregardless of the ship size difference. "The B.S. of the crew 'sitting strapped in their chairs for the battle' is going to stop. Buckup good fellows, this change is >for the better. If RTG wanted to try to reduce the code size of the weekly adjustment program, they could stop the bubble up effect and let us assign the production queue slots in our FP orders. This way, you could leave your #1 slot open for emergencies, #2 for Special tech deals and have some large order in your #10 slot to catch any production that might fall all the way through. It would be great because you would never have to reset your entire queue -- just reassign the slot as you see fit. ------------------------------ From: RLOatWERTH@aol.com Date: Fri, 14 Jul 1995 23:32:15 -0400 Subject: IND Werth - Holy Moly! Ladies & Gentlemen - Chickens & Mexicans, My name is Thompson S. Hunter. I'm here in the starport of IND Werth where news has spread quickly that Lt. Rlo Krieger is arriving - even as I speak - to take control of the colony after an honest recount of the recent elections shows that the "Rlo-Is-A-Sex-God" Party actually won the governor's election by a wide majority. (...a loud sonic boom washes over the acres of populated tarmac...) Yes...yes, I can see Lt. Krieger's yacht spiraling wildly down into the lower atmosphere. It's making a fast approach. The public address system is warning the crowds to move off the tarmac. It's getting closer and looks like it will land on the outer edge...no, it's bounced... and is coming this wa....HOLY S**T!....LOOK OUT! (...the yacht skids past the grandstand and comes to a hopping halt as the reverse thrusters are juiced to 101%...coming to a thudding stop up against and slightly under a matte black dreadnought...) Praise be to *BOB*. That was a close one, again, for Lt. Rlo Krieger and his crazy crew of female zanies. The starport firefighters have the scorch and friction fires quickly under control, and thru the steam and smoke I can see the main hatchway opening. Four nearly nakes pleasure slaves of the first order (woo woo, hubba hubba) seem to be...yes, they are rolling out a royal purple carpet. There he is, there he is, the new governor of IND Werth. Let's see if we can get a word with him and his associates. (...the camera jogs as it follows Mr. Hunter across the tarmac to the side of the still smoldering yacht...) Mr. Krieger...Mr. Krieger, may we have a word? Ah...Governor, Governor Krieger, a word for our audience if you please! Good, here he comes... TSH: Have you come to take over the colony, Governor. Or will you sell it and move on? RK: Sell it? Why? The good people of Werth have elected me governor. Besides, I ain't gettin any younga, I needz ta tink abut me retirement, I gotz a crew and staff ta tink of. Naaaa, I ain't sellin'...I iz sitting up shop! TSH: What plans do you have then, as governor? RK: Well, first I am declaring the moon Hile to be hereafter known as the Grand Principality of Snitzbath-Banork. As the head guy, I shall appoint myself as Great Exalted PhunMeister and Baron of Greymatter. My loyal second, Elizabeth Windsor, shall be Colony Administrator. My manservant Myron shall be the Palladin of the Palace in charge of the Palace Pet, Phuzy. I'll announce more later thru me publix relashuns honcho, Harold Hedd...Oh, and I'd like to offer the hospitality of da house as a truly neutral, but phun loving site for poker games, prisoner exchanges, and birthday parties, and stuff like dat. Thank youse very much, now get da **** outta my way. Well, there you have it folks. Lt. Rlo Krieger, or should I say, Great Exalted PunMeister Rlo Krieger, is here, and he's here to stay! The Quman government kindly provided a 4605-gun salute (4133 Heavy Tanks, 352 Pulsar tanks, and 120 Quman "Veterans" (sic)) to mark the event. And Odin's Eye provided an aerial fly-by (with fireworks, of course), as well as its own multi-thousand gun salute. Unfortunately for the Qumans, Odin's Eye's firworks inadvertantly fell directly upon the Quman contingent, wiping out all 4605 guns by the end of the long-rang fire round. WCE General Secretary Treyder was delighted that the Qumans attended, and seemed genuinely happy that citizens at his colony now had a holiday to celebrate, similar to the one their sister-colony Soul Cage celebrates around New Year's. To show his appreciation, Lord Treyder has promised to send the Quman government a new battle computer, one that might be able to estimate battle losses better than the finger-counting method currently employed by the Quman Dredlox, Ma-lox, and Goldi-lox. In addition, Lord Treyder has promised to help stage a VQ celebration on Oduds, itself, sometime in the future.
