Applicants should be of at least level 3 (in Atlantis City) and prepared to train me for either 3 or five turns solid. I've found myself in the lucky position of being able to buy 10 a month, due to requesting over 100. People keep trying to buy them off me! But I ask you, what would anyone who has enough money to actually buy HEL want with more silver? Silver can't really do anything in A.C. unless you have about $6000+ available, so I "spend" High elves on other things I want. Like Magic items for example, that I cannot get any other way. You see, in A.C. High Elves arent really worth $60. Because you need about $600 commited to trying to buy ten HEL in order to get 1. So as far as I'm concerned, one HEL is worth $600 to me - it takes that much money to increase the amount I actually buy each month by one. Now say for example I wanted a magic wand or helmet. If for example I paid 5 HEL for it, I'd see it as paying the mage $3000. Of course, if the mage takes them outside A.C. they immediately depreciate to $300, but that's his problem! So I say this - recognise the HEL as the Atlantis City unit of money, and let bartering rule! If you don't have any HEL, offer someone (not neccessarily me!) a service they cannot provide themselves! Tell a war faction "give me a leader, I'll train him as a mage and produce gloves of strength for you, if you give me a regular income of HEL. Of course, the best plan is just to leave Atlantis City, but it depends what you want! I didn't leave Atlantis city for 12 Months, because I wanted a powerbase there, and didn't want to get minced by the powercrazed war factions out there. If you're a new faction and want a chance to buy HEL, claim all but about $500 of your funds into one unit of HEL, and issue a huge buy order. Then you may get 1 or 2 HEL :) And then watch the thieves steal your cash :) Anyway, as usual, I blurbled away for hours and most people probably deleted this after the first few lines! Have fun, Jon. ---------------------------------------------------------- From: Paul Meisner <Paul.Meisner@egc.ericsson.se> Subject: TIMES 343 Date: Sat, 15 Jul 95 12:12:00 PDT Yawning, Jostin stretched as he stepped into the crisp mountain air. What a relief. Things were looking bright, sure there were supply problems, but he had taken steps to rectify the situation and all would be well soon. He was even starting to enjoy the magic study, now that Moz wasn't constantly badgering him. This list is meant for all players in the Atlantis 2.0. Mail sent to this list should be appropriate for all players of Atlantis 2.0. Rules questions should probably be sent to the moderator (atlantis@rahul.net), he can then forward the question and answer to the list. Role-playing is appropriate, but faction-to-faction email should not be sent to the list. To send mail to everyone on this list, send mail to: atl-players@tango.rahul.net Please include the word 'Atlantis' in your Subject line, so the other recipients of the list can identify your message. If you wish to be taken off of this list, just let me know, at atlantis@rahul.net. You do not need to be on this list to play Atlantis 2.0. Please note that I (atlantis@rahul.net) am _not_ on the list, so messages to be unsubscribed from the list, and other messages directed to me, should _not_ be sent to the list. Hopefully the list will run fine without moderation; if there are any problems, please let me know. ---------------------------------------------------------- From: "Jiri Klouda" <KLOUDA@novell.karlin.mff.cuni.cz> Date: Mon, 17 Jul 1995 08:15:14 Subject: Re: atlantis ->How much weight can a wagon hold, I can't find it in the rules. -> 50 unit.
