Well, if you know about the new list, it must mean you are on it. :_) I have sent the new list messages over the new list.. :_) The lists have been on the (relativally) quiet sides. If your alliesdo not get this message tell them to mail majordomo@ee.pdx.edu with 'subscribe atl-players' in hte message body and that should solve all. :_) -Jeff -=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=- _ __ __ _ _ _ | | ___ / _|/ _| | | | | ___(_)_ __ ___ _ __ _ | |/ _ \ |_| |_ | |_| |/ _ \ | '_ \ / _ \ '_ \ | |_| | __/ _| _| | _ | __/ | | | | __/ | | | \___/ \___|_| |_| |_| |_|\___|_|_| |_|\___|_| |_| jeffh@ee.pdx.edu -=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=- ---------------------------------------------------------- From: Jon Harvey <u3jph@csc.liv.ac.uk> Subject: Re: the new mailing list Date: Wed, 19 Jul 1995 18:03:31 +0100 (BST) Dail Rowe (dail@kitthan.gso.uri.edu) wrote: > > Hi, > > Is this just a really quiet week in Atlantis Land - not necessarily a bad > thing - or is there some problem with the new mailing list. McGaw" <u3djm@csc.liv.ac.uk> Subject: Dave is still here Date: Wed, 19 Jul 1995 20:27:01 +0100 (BST) Hello one and all. I'm still here. This is basically a cover note. I am still here in Atlantis and I am planning on staying for quite some time yet. I basically got spooked by the 'We're having an Atlantis closing Sale' notices, and thought I'd better say fare ye well to all and sundry before the players list went down. To my hopes and dreams, the game is still goning and my fear were premature. I awoke today to find 251 messages in my mailbox, so everyone who mailed me directly will get a reply as soon as I get to you in my list. Just hang tight. (I haven't even got down to my turn yet, and that's what I came in for.) This is just a basic, I'm still here, and I didn't mean to put the fear of Godinto anyone with farewells. If you need me, you know where my mailbox is. Regards as ever to all. Is this a bug or have I made a mistake? To be able to give items or units to another faction, the receiving faction must have declared the giving faction friendly or better. In other words, it doesn't matter whether you are allied to faction 275; rather, it matters whether he is allied to you. Assuming that this applies to the new atl-players list (this one), it is useless to try to ascertain the list's status by posting test messages. Majordomo simply sends mail out to everyone on a list. I know listproc dose not send messages back, but majordomo relies on sendmail to distrubute the mail. Ive checked everything I could, and so I dont know what to say, everythig appears to be running well, it could be that we have a longer turn around time for messages now. Ill look into fixing that tho. -Jeff -=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=- _ __ __ _ _ _ | | ___ / _|/ _| | | | | ___(_)_ __ ___ _ __ _ | |/ _ \ |_| |_ | |_| |/ _ \ | '_ \ / _ \ '_ \ | |_| | __/ _| _| | _ | __/ | | | | __/ | | | \___/ \___|_| |_| |_| |_|\___|_|_| |_|\___|_| |_| jeffh@ee.pdx.edu -=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=-=+=- ---------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Personal Attacks Date: Wed, 19 Jul 1995 19:57:12 -0700 From: Anson Winsor <apwinsor@span.CS.UNLV.EDU> You are right. This kind of thing of trying to drag something from outside the game makes me wonder if the game will be worth playing. I wanted to just play a role-playing game. Nothing personal, nothing from outside the game, just to have fun in Atlantis. ------- Forwarded Message Received: from tango.rahul.net by JIMI.CS.UNLV.EDU id aa13095; 18 Jul 95 18:47 PDT Received: by tango.rahul.net id AA29541 (5.67b8/IDA-1.5 for real-atl-design); Tue, 18 Jul 1995 18:33:54 -0700 Received: from tristero.io.com by tango.rahul.net with SMTP id AA29535 (5.67b8/IDA-1.5 for <atl-design@tango.rahul.net>); Tue, 18 Jul 1995 18:33:52 -0700 Received: from bermuda.io.com (bermuda.io.com [199.170.88.7]) by tristero.io.com (8.6.12/8.6.12) with ESMTP id UAA23588; Tue, 18 Jul 1995 20:33:26 -0500 Received: (llong@localhost) by bermuda.io.com (8.6.12/8.6.12) id UAA11103; Tue, 18 Jul 1995 20:34:39 -0500 Date: Tue, 18 Jul 1995 20:34:39 -0500 (CDT) From: Lazarus <llong@io.com> To: atl-design@tango.rahul.net Cc: Geoff Dunbar <atlantis@rahul.net> Subject: TIMES (fwd) Message-Id: <Pine.BSI.3.91.950718202533.10137E-100000@bermuda.io.com> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII I found this in the Times and was not amused. This is neither friendly or role playing. This is a direct slur against possible fellow players. Not their faction, not their role playing, but them themselvess Many times Geoff has told us this is not part of the game. It is in the rules and it has been retold through the players list. It does not sound like this faction is trying to perserve freedom at all. Sounds like a call to hatred that goes beyond the game. Beyond too far!
