Highlander: The PBM From: claemor@aol.com (Claemor) Date: Thu, 10 Aug 1995 00:00:00 +0000 Claemor Entertainment, Inc. in association with Thunder Castle Games is creating Highlander: The Play-By-Mail under license from Gaumont Television. The first installment, San Francisco 1990's, will be available in November, 1995. Currently, we are looking for input from the Highlander Fans and the PBM players out there so that we can tailor a game to your liking. Any questions or comments you have, feel free to post. Highlander: The Play-By-Mail will be a strategy PBM game based on the popular television show. The basic premise is this: immortal warriors have lived amongst us for centuries, battling against each other to be the last of their kind. They fight with edged weapons for the only way to kill an immortal is to take his head, which also transfers his power to the victorious fighter. As the saying goes: In the end, there can be only one. In Highlander: The PBM, players compete in various eras to be the last of their kind. Each player controls the actions of an immortal hero or heroine as well as a small group of four mortal colleagues. The first chapter takes place in modern-day San Francisco with other chapters planned throughout the ages. Our focus will be the same as the television show: action, adventure, romance, kinship, rivalry, allegiance, and plenty of hand-to-hand combat. Turn entry will run via snail-mail, e-mail, and fax, with all turn results mailed via snail mail (i.e. a completely paper game at first), with upgrades for full uploading and downloading of turns planned soon after. Game details are now taking shape, but are by no means solidified. That's where you come in. We want Highlander: The PBM to appeal to the vast Highlander audience as well as the avid play-by-mail gamer. In order to do this correctly, we will need the input of the die-hard Highlander fans out there and that of the play-by-mail experts. So, if you have any ideas, questions, comments, etc., by all means, drop them our way. In September (1995), we will begin testing the game and welcome you all to play at a drastically reduced price (not yet determined, but it will be our cost only). Start-up kits (introductory rules and turn sheet) will be made available at that time for no cost, as well. If you are interested in beta testing Highlander: The Play-By-Mail, please e-mail us directly at: claemor@aol.com and we'll put you on the list. We look forward to hearing from you!
