I try hard to make this team alos a (partly) internet team. The German type of player should be somebody who can live with a desperate situation. 2 Ranks and medals. You can get medals, but do not take it to serious. This are the quasi historic possibilitys. Rangliste. The French follow their own strategy. They cannot be ordered by SHEAF or 6 US Army Group as the other allied formations. SHEAF can stop all material from supplying the French, but this would be as last ditch and would proof that you should join negotiation course. FIRST SHEAF / 6 US AG and French agree on a way of operating, than 6 US AG gives the operational order to 1st French army. No other HQ has this privilege. 2. News from the stars and stripe 18.10.1944 At Thionville there is an Allied attack reported, whether it is an Corps or divisional attack is not clear yet from the reports. It seems, that the German resistance here is very determined. There is heavy air support, so it might be a Allied success. We keep you informed. The Germans seem to run a tail between the legs tactic or do we expect a major attack in the next week without having a clue? Were is the Ultra, Special forces, SOE or other information, the air recce photo's and all that stuff? You do not win the war with doing nothing. At s Hertogenbosch the attack of 43 Wessex was renewed. There seems to be a lack of clear orders to the German troops (AOK 15) in this area, still the advance of 107 PzBrig, although hampered by harassing airplanes makes it hard to predict the outcome. It seems that the line of attack is now pointed at Heusden, an other Bridge over the Maas. 19.10 Yes, there is something going on we get reports from Bresken bridgehead about a attack of 1 Can division. The attacks seem to point at Knokke, Oostburg and Breskens itself. When their is something known read last minute at the end of this file. In area Thionville and Metz an carefully planned attack was unlashed. No more information yet since I would loose my job. But expect something next time. 3. Game Data: The concept of Kriegspiel INTRODUCTION/EINFHRUNG (Members only) INTRODUCTION AND CONCEPTS/INTRODUKTION UND KONZEPT Officers Club is a flexibel PBM wargame system which will player allow to act as Formation or Unit commanders in historic battles. Several scenarios will be played by teams of player. A wargame is like a chess game which originally was a training exercise of battlefield tactics and analytic thinking for chinese officer. But while a game of chess maintains a highly abstract view on combat, a wargame in the tradition of the Prussian "Kriegspiel" tries to simulate the tactical, operational or strategic battlefield reality for training purposes or for the prediction of further military events. The Wargames offered try to simulate historic military battles just because of interest in military history and for fun. While we play we have not in mind to glorify war, military aggression or ideologies of the past. In the games it is tried to maintain the highest accuracy ("purist") in research and in the development of presentation and execution. In OC scenarios the common "rules" or "charts" of common "wargames" are not used by the players as they would not be used by a military commander in the field like a "combat effect chart" or a "movement points chart". They are not able to conduct military operations as purely mathematical exercises of some game mechanism. The game systems are entirely run by the gamemaster/umpire (Leitende). But the "Officer Manual" will give the basic military information needed. The player uses only "real" means of conducting a battle like maps, a pair of compasses, orders and other means of communication, his own "eyes" in lower than operational level games and his personal knowledge of commanding an formation or a unit. The scenarios include also an samall or big element of roleplaying. Players can get involved in personal combat or have for example, to hassle with superiors about artillery support. The scenarios cover on the time scale from a minute up to a historic day in large campaigns per game turn. Time can be manipulated by the gamemaster to slow down or fasten up the game. The largest formations are divisions and exceptionally corps while the smallest units represented are squads or Commando's. The terminology will change according to the periode played. The Games will be designed as team games of 16 or more player. In most game player can join later on. An disadvantage as in most PBM Games is not given. Playing components/Spielmaterial The following will be provided to you / Man erhlt folgende Komponenten: 1. TEAM DATA. 2. SCENARIO DATA. The Scenario Information,/Die General Idea genannte called General Idea/Scenarioinformationen. Mostly via SB./ Wichtigen Daten erhlt man meistens in dem SB. (SB: Stabsblatt, game newspaper once oer move). 3. PERSONAL OR POSITION DATA. Your personal position information called Special Reports with general and personal order of battle, maps, and in tactical level games graphicalrepresentation of your surroundings, so that you can actually "see" what is going on. Also including a "narrative". Part 3 will be updatted every turn / Teil 3 wird jede Runde erneut ausgearbeitet. The tradition of the "Kriegspiel": The following text is taken from the modern english translation of the 1824 Reisswitz rules. It contains part of the introduction to "Instruction for the representation of Military Maneuvers with the Kriegsspiel Apparatus" from B. von Reisswitz, 1st Lieutenant of the Prussian Army. Introduction It will help towards understanding the individual rules of Kriegspiel if we begin with a general description of the game. It will be also shown how the game can become both an interesting and educational passtime. The game requires first of all an ordinary map, of a scale larger enough to allow terrain to be shown in detail. It also needs a number of objects which can be represent the troops. These have to be able to show what kind of troops they represent, and they have to be capable of being arranged to show the different troop formations which might be needed. These troop symbols and the map must beto the same scale, and the //////to big for the connection///////for the full story email me/// or read it in alt.folklore.military Up
