Water Wars From: engf002@csc.canterbury.ac.nz (AE) Date: Wed, 30 Aug 1995 00:00:00 +0000 Water Wars ---------- "Water is Power. Power is Water." Volunteers are required for a game of Water Wars. Water Wars is a multi-player play-by-e/mail game. It is of the task-based variety, and contains no role-playing per se. Players are in control of minor kingdoms in a virtual computer world. Through clever use of your water resources, you will build up your kingdom in an attempt at global water monopoly or world domination. Each week (for about 15 weeks) you send me your turn. Your turn is combined with all the other players' turns and processed by computer. The computer decides how the various tasks interact and what happens to the world. It then generates a revised map and sends it back to you. By the raising and lowering of hexes you can dam up water or divert it. With clever use of this technology, it will be possible to flood or "drought" your neighbours. Crops can be planted to get food. If the are planted on recently flooded land, then the food yield is enormous. Nets can be laid in the water to catch fish. Water missiles can be built to launch at other players. You can blast their land and wash away their structures. Observation posts and rafts allow you to explore the world. Villages, the most important resource, control the number of tasks you get each turn. Volunteers are being accepted for a trial game of Water Wars. It is free. If you are interested, please send some email to a.earl@cad.canterbury.ac.nz You will be sent a copy of the rules. To weed out the no-shows, also-rans and the I-can't-be-bothered malcontents, there is a multi-choice quiz with rules which you will have to complete. WW creator, Andrew Earl Up
