My own cut off point is about $5.00 per weekly turn. You inadvertently touched on another factor to consider in pricing turns - the frequency. I tried at first to run ONE TRUE FAITH with a 2 week turn-around, but players said that was not enough time to do all the negotiating they wanted to do, so by player request I extended it. Now the deadline for each turn is 20 days from the day I mail the previous turn's results, and that seems to be about right. PBEM brings with it the possibility of daily (or even hourly) turns - so even if the per-turn price drops because of the lack of paper costs, the overall cost per paycheck can really skyrocket. This is especially bad if there is no limit on frequency - how can even a good player compete with people who, because they are wealthier, can get four moves processed in the time it takes her to get one?
