Join the PBM Mailing List From: Bob McLain <bmclain1@khan2.dandelions.com> Date: Sun, 10 Sep 1995 00:00:00 +0000 I've begun a mailing list for play-by-mail (and this includes play-by-email) gamers. You can join by sending email to: pbm-list-request@pbm.com Put "SUBSCRIBE" in the subject line. That's it. There's no need to put your email address in the body of the message. If you'd rather get a digest of the list each day, rather than individual messages, send email to: pbm-list-d-request@pbm.com You'll still need to put "SUBSCRIBE" in the subject line. The list opened yesterday, so don't expect a lot of traffic right away. I hope, eventually, that it will become an active forum for the exchange of all ideas and opinions (and yes, even analyses) relevant to play-by-mail gaming. I don't think play-by-mail is a singular hobby. I'm not talking about the illusory 'schism' between paper play-by-mail and electronic play-by-mail. I'm talking about free games and pay games. My entire perspective, after more than fifteen years in the hobby, has been pay games; I've never looked at a free game until recently. When I first thought about opening a listserv for PBM gamers, I assumed it would focus on pay games -- simply because it's all *I* know. But that's a mighty provincial attitude. I hope *all* play-by-mail gamers join the list -- paper gamers, electronic gamers, free gamers, pay gamers, all of you. I don't have any rules. Say what you like. As long as you don't become abusive, and as long as you don't consistently use the list as an advertising forum, your views are very welcome. Bob McLain Referenced By Up
