Ancient Times #0895 From: keith.langley@mdcs.com (Keith Langley) Date: Mon, 11 Sep 1995 00:00:00 +0000 A N C I E N T T I M E S "All the news that's fit to chisel" Late Summer, issue #0895 Epistles from Erth One True Faith game #2 Tricksters pounded in Balkans - Magian and Gramunch continued their war against Chicane. Termites and other pests destroyed the fort in Bosnia just as a Munchkin army from Kosovo invaded. A simultaneous attack by Magian's troops hit the coast of Dalmatia. Heavy rains prevented Chicane from retreating to Serbia, which he had just retaken in a see-saw preaching battle with Gramunch. Magian captures Saxony - Troops from Thuringia and Brandenburg took the agnostic province of Saxony, although they took a pounding from a determined Ent in the defending army. LETTERS (Gramunch) - He has placed the bucket of water on our very threshold. He has short sheeted our very beds. He has stuck the "kick me" sign to our very backs! Enough! No longer will the people of Erth suffer the tyranny of the practical joker! Larry Langley (Gramunch in game 2, Dudley in game 3) can be contacted at: (address deleted in EMail edition) Holy Writ One True Faith game #3 The next deadline has been extended a bit to allow those of you attending TACTICON in Denver to deliver your turns to me there. (Sorry, no tacos this year; I can't find a refrigerator in Lakewood). Kashelo deals with mutinies, captures Lothian - An army of Seafarers from Lancaster and York captured Lothian. Both sides were plagued by internal squabbles; Kashelo lost a twisted elf rocket team to a cannon shot from rival twisted dwarves. A second attack by Kashelo's troops was entirely cancelled when His twisted Elf troops flatly refused to serve alongside high and wood elves. Agnostics overwhelmed - Two agnostic provinces were attacked by such overwhelming numbers that they gave up without a fight. Dudley's Burgundian troops marched triumphantly into Savoy, while Roebuck's massive army from Odessa, Kharkov and Voronezh took Kiev. Crispin chases Mercanna out of Annaba - An army of Torturers from Tripoli sacked Mercanna's province of Annaba. The Merchant troops fled without a battle. LETTERS (Vulcan) - Any further diplomatic communications would still be welcome. I have now made some border agreements and at least one pact/alliance. If You have left me messages, My advisors' henchmen are total idiots and have not passed them on very well. Avalon assures Me this will not happen again. Please recontact Me at Your earliest convenience. A former servant of his has taken over his church. Beyugias is the God of Wascally Wabbits. His priests gain Alter Self when preaching to ratmen due to their affinity for rodents and cartoon characters generally - this Alter Self, in an exception to the normal rules, leaves the priests at their original size. Beyugias' leaders go through rigorous survival training, involving dynamite, steamrollers, high cliffs, trains and other perilous situations. All His priests and heroes have the healing-E miracle, in addition to their normal abilities. As before, when a new player takes over an existing position I enforce a 1 turn ban on military action involving that player, to give him/her a chance to contact others and explore a bit. For one turn only, Beyugias may not attack non-agnostic provinces, and no player may attack Beyugias' provinces. Aniforani grabs two provinces - The God of Vengeance captured Algiers with an army of Uruk-hai and Goblins from Oran, despite heavy casualties from goblin squabbling. He also attacked Midlands from Cornwall, London and York, solidifying His hold on England. Fyn falls to Halthor - A force from Zeeland landed on Fyn after a brief naval skirmish. Fyn's twisted elves fell to Halthor's werewolf infantry wall. Tinuviel takes Brunswick - Forces from Thuringia and Brandenburg combined in a successful assault on Brunswick, involving a magical duel between Tinuviel's priests and agnostic wizards defending Brunswick. Joss captures Styria - Joss' Carinthian army continued its conquests, taking the hobgoblin province of Styria with no losses. STANDINGS - After 3 turns, all players are still closely packed together. The distance between first and ninth place is quite small. Deities, worshippers in hundreds, and provinces controlled are: Enabrin, 26, 7 provinces Vlad, 25, 6 provinces Tinuviel, 25, 8 provinces VeesaGolde, 24, 7 provinces Halthor, 24, 6 provinces Aniforani, 22, 9 provinces Joss, 22, 6 provinces Agape, 20, 6 provinces Beyugias, 19, 6 provinces LETTERS (Halthor) - Salutations, fellow deities. I, being neutral, have no quarrels with you and would be happy to talk and make some non-aggression pacts. High priest: (address deleted in Email edition) (Tinuviel) - The Lady Tinuviel bids greetings to Her divine associates. May peace reign in Your lands and the light shine upon You always. I wish peace also to reign between us. Any communications are welcome including trade, border and alliance negotiations. Avalon, High Consort and Lord Steward to Lady Tinuviel, can be rached at: (address deleted in Email edition) (Aniforani) - Aniforani welcomes all friendly contact.
