Computer games can be play-by-mail games -- I think VGA Planets is.
There's no moderator, and there's no per-turn fee, but it's a game
that I can play whenever I have time, not when my opponent is
available. And that's what play-by-mail is all about, to me.

I suspect that the computer wargame companies now producing games
which have play-by-email options are benefitting quite a bit, as is
the author of VGA Planets. No traditional PBM company has really tried
to get into that market segment.  But I suppose you have a different
definition of play-by-mail.
