ATLANTISv2 atl-players-digest #134 From: csd@microplex.com (Christian Daudt) Date: Wed, 13 Sep 1995 00:00:00 +0000 Errors to csd@microplex.com Now there should be a digest whenever (a) there are 10 emails or (b) whenever there is an email waiting for more than 48 hours for a digest to be completed. So don't get worried if the digest has only 1 or 2 emails, that just means the list has been slow. (I hope it works) If you want previous versions, they are available via WWW at http://www.microplex.com/~csd/atlantisv2/ ---------------------------------------------------------- From: Jon Harvey <u3jph@csc.liv.ac.uk> Subject: Mages in Spakker-Yakleks Area Date: Tue, 12 Sep 1995 17:37:00 +0100 (BST) Dear all, The DOMINION is interested in contacting one or possibly two Houses of Magic in the Spakker / Southeast Yakleks area of Atlantis, regarding a possible partnership. There will be the possibility of future allied status with the DOMINION, with the provision of a safe place to live and study, without having to worry about meaningless things like money. Successful applicants will be independent newer magic factions with the ability to work as part of a team. Usual training benefits and free spells are available, and you won't be required to have all your mages making gadgets all the time! As part of a team, you will no doubt be able to assist the war and tradefactions of the DOMINION, as they will in turn assist you. We do realise that the gates from Atlantis City to these areas have been closed for some time, and that most independent factions will have grouped together. This is entirely understandable, but we hope you can understand that this offer does not apply to whole groups, much as both parties would like it to... Those factions able to transport themselves to the Spakker area would also be considered. For further information, please contact : u3jph@csc.liv.ac.uk Lord Viper. (Head of Magic) House Banshee (217) of the DOMINION. ---------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 13 Sep 1995 16:44:04 +1000 (EST) From: Robert Henley <rhenley@st.nepean.uws.edu.au> Subject: form unit can someone tell what i am doing wrong trying to break up this unit. unit 1754 form 1 name unit "Rhion high priest of god" describe unit "wearing black robe, looking to build" study entertainment end form 2 name unit "BelZedar" describe unit "wearing a muddy robe" Move northwest end form 3 name unit "SilverStreak" describe unit "wearing a dusty black robe, looking at old church records" study entertainment end give new 1 1 leader give new 1 200 silver give new 2 1 leader give new 2 125 silver give new 3 1 leader give new 3 100 silver ---------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 13 Sep 1995 08:17:39 GMT From: bobhayes@oz.net (Bob Hayes) Subject: Foundation teaching in Atlantis City S H I V A ' S S C H O O L O F M A G I C Now open in Atlantis City...arm your faction with a killer mage before venturing out into the great unknown... We teach mages in all skill areas, most to level 2 or higher. (Current levels: construct 2, body 2, nature 2, energy 2, all others level 1). We sell a variety of magic items for reasonable prices. We accept payment in silver, magic items, elven workers, and spells. (Sorry, we DON'T sell spells). WE WILL HAVE ENERGY 3 and NATURE 3 IN TWO WEEKS. Training in the magical arts costs a mere $25 silver per mage, or transferring ONE elven worker will entitle you to THREE months of training. Payment in spells and magic items is negotiable. To be trained: 1) Declare faction 822 friendly. 2) Transfer 25 silver/mage or high elves to unit 5520. 3) Send email to bobhayes@oz.net saying what unit # is studying what foundation. 4) Study the appropriate foundation skill. ---------------------------------------------------------- From: "Dale Davies" <en168107@student.uq.edu.au> Date: Wed, 13 Sep 1995 18:13:14 +1000 Subject: orright... how *do* i move then?! The Order would prefer to make payment as a number of Enchanted wagons, supplemented with some SILVER if necessary. The number of wagons is negotiable, and would be payed prior to the work starting in order to make them available for shipping stone. Tenders should be emailed to: matthew@te.rl.ac.uk Preceptor Ferdinand. ============================================================================ #END ---------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 13 Sep 1995 13:15:11 +0100 From: matthew@te.rl.ac.uk (Matthew Bassett (Ext. 6571)) As some of you may have noticed, I managed to send my Times article, including my password to the players list. Thanks to all of you who pointed this out... I have since changed my password (although I guess this will not take effect until the turn is processed). I'd appreciate it if no one sent the order "COMMIT_SUICIDE" to my units... In case anyone is wondering, the title Preceptor is given to one who is about to do something incredibly stupid. Cheers, Matt. _______________________________________________________________________ Matthew Bassett internet mail: matthew@te.rl.ac.uk Rutherford Appleton Laboratory janet mail: matthew@uk.ac.rl.te "Where's the nearest information super layby?" ---------------------------------------------------------- From: Jon Harvey <u3jph@csc.liv.ac.uk> Subject: Re: form unit Date: Wed, 13 Sep 1995 14:02:39 +0100 (BST) > can someone tell what i am doing wrong trying to break up this unit. > Well, I did what you should have done, and sent them to the orders checker (I used faction number 999 as a fictional number, so don't worry about it faction999!) As you can see, it found no errors (I couldn't see any - but then I think you could have formatted it better - use UPPER CASE for orders and lower case for names etc, and space it out a lot more - it won't work differently, but will be much easier to debug. There should be nothing wrong with these orders assuming that unit 1754 has the right amount of leaders and silver available. Jon.
