These are the traditional limitations to any faction's power, I
believe (except the farcast aurablast question which I'll skip for now).
The suggestions I like are:

-Make faerie larger & therefore slower (someone impractical for G1)
-make the faerie hunt a serious problem
-make a construction ban in faerie (again, impractical for G1)
-make a limit on the number of nobles a faction can have.  The Sen clan
had over 50 controlled units on turn 60?!  That, in my opinion, is simply
too much.  A limit of 40 or so seems good to me.
-make it so that nobles of a faction which has quit do not lose their
oathed status (this makes hunting newbies much less exciting)
-make beastmastery cost a noble point or institute a natural death of a
percentage of beasts on day 30 (say 1 or 2%).

& to help out newbies:
-give 'em a little more gold & wood (say 7,000 & 70 now)
-give 'em more noble points (Jeremy Maiden's suggestion I believe).  I'm
not sure that 13 at turn 8, & 14 & turn 16 is appropriate, but perhaps 1/2
that rate of growth?  Thus at turn 70 a newby would have 16 noble points.
