Olympia - Time for G2? From: Rob Rodgers <rrodgers@unex.ucla.edu> Date: Mon, 25 Sep 1995 00:00:00 +0000 Although I realize that Shadow Island Games is not a democracy, I would like to start a thread to find out how the Olympia community feels about starting over. I posted an article a week or so ago saying that I thought Olympia is balanced, but some of the things I've read since have led me to the conclusion that there is just no real future for a player who didn't start early--and for many of those that did! That isn't necessarily a reason to start a new game, but for many the gaimng experience, and consequently how long they play it, might be enhanced by beginning again. There are, clearly, many things I don't know. I don't know if Rich has the resources to run two games. I don't know if he is planning a new version (hopefully with some of the "fixes" that have been suggested here. I don't know if the current group of players is ultimately happy or unhappy with the current state of affairs. And finally, I don't know if the dreaded AOO would do the same damn thing all over again. But I'd like to find out. Given the opportunity to vote, I'd vote for the opportunity to have a new Olympia world to play in where I'd have an equal chance from the beginning. (I'd also vote for the skill to build roads, but that's another issue.) What does the rest of the community think? Rob Referenced By Up
