SDW: New NX policy concerning Glade System From: "Thomas A. Leitgeb" <thomas.leitgeb@kfunigraz.ac.at> Date: Mon, 09 Oct 1995 00:00:00 +0000 INTERSTAR CHRONICLE VOLUME 12 07.160 NUMBER 7 Part II NX TO HELP NEW CAPTAINS Allegiance/City Opened to All In response to the GM call to offer a friendly hand to newcomers into SDW: NX/C Rikel Prime (Glade System) [Independent Reporter] - In a brief press conference held at NX/C RIKEL PRIME, newly appointed Speaker to NX, Laanderious the Gray addressed the press core. "In recent events with regard to the First Imperium/Urr Consulate War, the NX Executive Council has determined that First Imperium no longer poses a threat to Nexus Research. In light of this fact and the fact that for quite some time now, new ship captains have had no safe and open starport to begin missions, President Maukiirous has prepared the following statement: "In the start of this new era of prosperity, Nexus Research shall be the first allegiance to publicly offer it's primary market and starport to ALL new comers and promises to achieve the following objectives in support of our offer to ALL friendly ships: 1. Establishment of several new stargate routes from Glade System into the Core Systems in Endeavor Sector. 2. Allow ALL friendly ships to conduct commerce at NX/C Alexandria in Glade System. 3. Permanently lower ALL market prices at NX/C Alexandria up to 50%. 4. Establish another public market for explorers, cargo haulers, etc. 5. Open Nexus Research Corporation to all new ship captains. 6. Establish lucrative trade routes to or from Glade System with cargo haulers. "Once I took the office for NX, I pledged to see to it that our motto, "Improving today for a better tomorrow" became a reality. The goals that I just outlined for you are small, but important steps toward that 'better tomarrow." Only be working together peacefully, we will be able to make things "right," and not just 'better.' I bid you peace, Pres. Maukiirous Nexus Research "President Maukiirous notified me immediately after a meeting with ECMGR. O'Malley of NX/C Alexandria that the market price changes will begin to change later this month. He also informed me that he would be opening Nexus Research to new ship captains this morning." NEWS By The Independent Eye I was contacted recently by a NA player who with breathless anticipation spun me a story of his great victory in space. His massive (15,500?) war ship had laid waste to an expedition which he had located accidentlly and he was as giddy as a Bnorg in a hardware store. The expedition consisted of a shuttle... this is not news. I get so tired of people (cretures) contacting me with such mundane events and screaming "interview me" and "put that in your article." My definition of news is "events or lifeforms who's actions could effect everyone" the war in Ara-Jen, fall of the GA, etc. I try to interview everyone who I consider news worthy. This does become difficult at times. I once tried to contact Storm McNeil and all I heard was an enormous party, someone burped in the speaker and then nothing. I also tried to contact Kon Nor but got an answering machine that said "the emperor is on a genocideal retreat for relaxation and is unavailable, please leave your name and freq at the scream." I called several times and listened to a different scream every time, curious? One evening while sitting at my workbench (found a Bnorg and just cant get the dam thing to work) I was contacted by someone named Farstar. Obviously my first question was, which one? After rambling on for several hours of tales of battle I thanked him, told him to go to bed, and asked the best wine to have with Dendriti, then hung up. As I said I talk to people who make news, not people who cant spell it. Besides, everyone knows you have cognac with Dendriti. (I knew he was a heathen.) I guess you have to listen to the good news with the bad to get anywhere in the media. So keep those cards and BBS' coming in. ORPHANED POSITION LOTTERY Cities None Expeditions NA/E Holdout-1 No further information is available on these positions.
