ATLANTISv2 atl-design-digest #53 From: csd@microplex.com (Christian Daudt) Date: Fri, 13 Oct 1995 00:00:00 +0000 Errors to csd@microplex.com Now there should be a digest whenever (a) there are 10 emails or (b) whenever there is an email waiting for more than 48 hours for a digest to be completed. So don't get worried if the digest has only 1 or 2 emails, that just means the list has been slow. (I hope it works) If you want previous versions, they are available via WWW at http://www.microplex.com/~csd/atlantisv2/ ---------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 11 Oct 1995 08:31:20 GMT From: ANTONIO JOAO SERRAS RENDAS <l40094@alfa.ist.utl.pt> Subject: remove from list please remove me from this list thank you ---------------------------------------------------------- From: Mark Hesidence <hesiden@Stoner.COM> Subject: Re: Atl: Trade suggestions Date: Wed, 11 Oct 1995 07:43:24 -0500 (CDT) Unclaimed silver is NOT a bank it is an game mechanism used keep new players from having their leader killed simply because everyone knows it will be carrying 5000 silver. I am not opposed to adding a real bank with branches in major cities where players can deposit silver in one city marked for transfer to another city. The money can be withdrawn from the bank in the other city X turns later where X depends on the distance between the cities. However I believe I remember Geoff saying that if the players want a bank they can create one themselves. ---------------------------------------------------------- From: Josh_Higham@nmh.northfield.ma.us (Josh Higham) Subject: Banks/Unclaimed Date: 11 Oct 1995 20:49:46 GMT Previous message: Unclaimed silver is NOT a bank it is an game mechanism used keep new players from having their leader killed simply because everyone knows it will be carrying 5000 silver. However, the problem with unclaiming silver is that it can then be INSTANTLY be used by any other unit. Unclaimed silver is available to ANY unit and ANY time. By making a "bank" of sorts, you can allow people added security (they no longer have to worry about thieves) but still limit the time it takes to transfer money. A player cannot really make a bank by themselves - because what we are refering to is increasing the safety of a persons money. If the money is just held by any old unit, then it can be stolen, or the unit can be assasinated... There could also be ways to take money from a bank, but it should be much harder than to simply issue a STEAL/ASSASSINATE order. ****************************************************************** Sent via Northfield Mount Hermon School-Wide Information System First Class Internet Gateway firstname_lastname@nmh.northfield.ma.us Up
