Ancient Times 0995a From: keith.langley@mdcs.com (Keith Langley) Date: Wed, 18 Oct 1995 00:00:00 +0000 A N C I E N T T I M E S "All the news that's fit to chisel" Early Fall - issue #0995 Sacred Scripture Rules changes and announcements applicable to all games OTF 3RD EDITION COMING - Among the changes expected: a revision of races and troop types, a "deity menu" to allow players to select a balanced mix of special attributes, a firm sequence of events, an index to the rules, Merchant Companies, new flying units, and more. This is your chance to suggest changes you would like to see. WANT FREE TURNS? Want to see your name in print? Send comments about OTF and your experiences in the game to: FLAGSHIP Magazine, Rt.3, Box 155-G, Dahlonega GA 30533 attn: Rumours from the Front or to 74673.1247@compuserve.com This column is a forum for players to discuss their PBM experiences, war stories, strategy hints, gripes and raves. I'll give $20 credit (2 free turns) for each item published, regardless of content ("I don't care what they say about me, as long as they spell my name right.") Game #5 still needs players - The only confirmed player at this time is Mike Morris. We need at least 6 to start. It's not my fault! - Players keep getting turns in late and requesting extensions to the deadline. This results in long turn-arounds, as turns must be processed more or less simultaneously. What should I do? I'd like players' input; should I: *continue to be flexible about deadlines, even though it slows the game? *be strict about deadlines, even though it means some players will miss turns and maybe even drop out? *extend the deadlines but be strict about the new (25 or 30) day schedule? *charge a fee for extensions (say, $1 per day) to keep them limited to real emergencies? Send comments on this question with your next turn (on time, please). Thanks! More nagging - While I am at it, some of you (especially those submitting turns by Email) have not sent a check in a while, and your accounts are getting seriously negative. (That's what it means if there are (parentheses) around your account statement). If you are one of those players, please send money. Epistles from Erth One True Faith game #2 Neutral ethos collapses - The expected replacement for Votlansh failed to manifest, and Storch has fallen into what appears to be a permanent drunken stupor. The Neutral ethos, already weakened to 0.66, now has no active deities to guide an attempt at recovery. Worshippers of inactive deities will be treated like agnostics for most purposes - they will not produce economic points, save DP in Holy Sites, build new units or attack. They will preach, though. The five remaining active deities will now find new room to expand. Levi grows to north and south - A Levite artillery force conquered Moscow, converting or killing Votlish and Agnostic worshippers. At the other end of His empire, Levi sent a cavalry army into Samaria, taking that province from Chicane's worshippers. Minor cults persecuted - Worshippers of Mobius in Oslo were killed by rioting mobs, while Chicane's followers in Phoenicia were declared Enemies of the State; many disappeared after being arrested, and several mass graves have been found. In both provinces, the cults' leaders reportedly recanted and joined the official religion of the area. Rampant weeds cause damage in Judea - Kudzu and stranglevine grew to enormous size overnight, tearing apart several houses with their tendrils and roots. 2 Trickster lizardman population points were killed.
