Oly: Fixing beastmastery in G1 From: jeremy@insignia.com (Jeremy Maiden) Date: Sun, 15 Oct 1995 00:00:00 +0000 Following a general view that beastmastery is too good, there've been several suggested changes to bring it into balance with the rest of the game. Most of the proposed changes have been more suitable for a fresh start in G2, here's an "upgrade" path for G1. 1) Use the wild horse/riding horse idea to split each existing beast type into wild and trained versions - different item numbers. 2) Introduce a skill (or maybe skill per type) of training wild beasts, taking some time to train each individual creature. 3) Make new beasts captured or bred always the wild type. 4) For a transtional period, have wild and trained beasts both function as the original single type. 5) On some future pre-announced turn stop the wild versions having any combat value when held by players. Suitable choices of all the numbers could give a toned down but still valuble beastmastery skill, but have a relativly small impact on the existing game. Jeremy Up
