Instead of spending the first N turns picking up skills, money, etc. you let players buy a bunch of stuff on their very first turn. This compresses the initial action, which is especially good for a closed-ended wargame where you want to ramp-up quickly and start fighting. You can skip those initial slow turns. But it doesn't seem like a fundamental difference in the overall game structure, imho. Up
