STABSBLATT 90 From: kolley@worldaccess.nl (Thomas Kolley) Date: Mon, 23 Oct 1995 00:00:00 +0000 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Stabsblatt <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Officer's Club Grand Strategy. -confidential- -eyes only- Nr. 90 Auflage 30 Herausgeber, Redactor, Zensor, Druck: Th. Kolley Preis DM 4 (& Mitgliedschaft). Email DM 2 OC 7 Playday Every second Thursday Auswertungsbegin, Donnerstag, jede 2.Woche. FTP: ftp.unterland.de (soon operational) Webpage: http://www.ts.umu.se/~hanz/west/west.html 1. Angetreten zum Rapport .(Briefing) Maps: All maps are now in color and *.gif. This time there should be no problem. all maps are again improved and more informational. High mountain dark grey. An division usually deploys two inf symbols in front which means that one reg is reserve. Allied armored division deploy usual 2 Combat commands A and B, showing an tanks and an inf symbol. Division border now added on the allied side. A German ID is more comlicated but mostly works in the same pattern. German Panzerdivisionen can deploy 2 Kampfgruppen with the same symbols as Allied AD. The new maps will by at hompage and eventually ftp side at the las thalve of the next week. There should be no problem this time since all problenms now solved. . Army law book: Chapter 1 What do we forget all the time: 1. If you plan an divisional attack on PD 21 (date 20 in your order) the earliest possibility is 23. also if you attacked on 20 the last time. You need to name the date in your attack order. From now on -everybody has done a few turns now and is considered a veteran- attack order without a date will not be executed. 2. Your orders must come in ONE Order of the day/Tagesbefehl per position/function with date in the EMAIL dares. 3. Your order must follow your front from north to south or from west to east concerning armys, corps and division.. Orders who jump from division to division or follow not this line will be not executed. 4.I you think your orders were not carried out to the letter (Were have you been the last war, anyhow?), something seems to be forgotten or wrong (Murhys law applied) you not to dares your staff and NOT the poor GM who has nothing to do with it. 5. Informal orders or request, por examplo in an conversational letter to the GM are not execute by your staff because they know nothing about it. You need to write an order with all parameter required. 6. An GM/umpire error is NOT an GM error but fog of war, you name it. Why? Because I said it. It is not possible to change is afterwards EXCEPT it would be an very unrealistic outcome according to GM judgment. Why? Because I said it. If all your orders are executed to the letter, boy, YOU are a lucky guy today! 7. Your order of the day is not an report of the day but an order of the day while an report of the day is done by your staff for you. You write an report for your next in Command and an order for your staff. 8. An STRONG FEATURE in OC is its realistic approach to the Fog of War. Expect in a war that things go wrong all the time. The friction of von Clausewitz. Why should the military be better than normal working guys anyhow. This realistic and unic OC feature is maintained by you (formal wrong orders, not my messages and announcement, laziness, bad day, stupidity, ignorance of military matters, of time and space, marching capabilities, forgetting your order, no positive account, you name it) and by me (overworked, running PD after a nightshift, too much other hobbys like military shooting, training a guarddog, computer, driving my new (used) BMW, etc). And there are even game events guided by dices and circumstances which can create confusion and errors. There is no alternative to an realistic simulation, the only alternative would be to play chess. Even then it is not only rational and logic but also an creative thing. The only one you can blame is your staff and of course yourself. Never blame the GM. 9. In order to get corps or army units involved in combat (in the combat system) you must atttach them to division. This concernes ART, tank, TD, ENG and the like. Some commandos and other special units might not. Ask me (your staff) about it. 2. News from the stars and stripes Writers wanted, who of the Allied team can fill out this space as I did before. Availiable: 1th US Army and perhaps 1th Canadian army. The Dutch resistance is now up and operational. Walcheren was attacked by pinpoint RAF bombardments (AM Mc Fleck). At least one German gun batterie was completely destroyed. 2nd UK Army Order To: CinC 43 Wessex Division, General Thomas. Send messages (with loudspeakers) to the surrounded German forces in Berlicum and Heeswijk: ' You are surroundered and you can better surrender, further withstand is useless'. This Is to announce that this enemy units capitulated due to the outstanding psychological warfare of 2n UK army and the lack of communications the enemy experienced had with their own HQ. The area west of Venlo is further cleared from the enemy. it seems, that the Jerrys are happy to accept surrender, specially the CAP IV troops. The Lowland and Highland divisions continuing are continuing their attacks successfully. North of Aachen the 9 USarmy attacks were continued. 6 USAD reported in the front as an German Panzerdivision moving up. 1th US Army divisions attacked the first time. no reports yet. The fighting of 3rd US Army in the Thionville and Metz area are continued. When does the ?German counterattack come? There was substantial air support reported: 100 planes ground support of 9 AD and 26 ID at Hagondange 200 planes ground support of 2 AD and 35 ID at Metz; attack units of 17 SS and 36 VgD 7th US Army made their first move since the 18. It seems that General Koehlers gave some succes promising orders. . In the French Army area much rochade type movement and chaos and daring dash to the Rhine over Muehlhausen which could be the sensation of the day. The German army group G shows pretty weak and disorganized. no blame on General Venema who is without any leadership, reinforcement or .communiction with higher command as prisoners report. 3. Das Oberkommando der Wehrmacht gibt bekannt. Writers wanted, who of the German team can fill out this space as I did before. Your text must be in the weekend before PD. Fanfares: Tatata!! Erfolg! An Luftwaffe mission succeeded to stop the ground support of the enemy airforce in the Aachen area. There was no reaction from USAAF mission control and an message from SHEAF could not be intercepted. So no fighterbomber reached the target area.
