The AOO has the strongest mages, many of the nicest items, and have cleaned out a bunch of "inner locations" which hold monsters and nice items. They also have the only castles in Faery, which is the superhighway to the world. Since most inner locations are taken, you'll have a hard time even getting an elfstone to use faery. But, you can still breed lots of dragons (albeit a bit slower than when the AOO did their breeding) and raise an army. And train new mages... -- Oleg the Loudmouth Up
