Thanks to Bruce Cota for his help. ___ / _ \ Well, after my little speech on Monday we have a few | __/DITORIAL more points for the digest today. Thanks folks! I'd like \___| to echo here in the editorial the pleas for a comprehensive list of the new commands, and some indication on what is being programmed next. Perhaps tomorrow at the pub meet someone could collar the staff (if any are present) and ask. Would someone be willing to do me a write up of the pub meet? _ / \ We have this week: / /_\ RTICLES o Ewan Jones on thieves, alliances and monsters / ___ \ o Nigel Gormley on the tough monster issue too /_/ \_\ o Jonathan Burt on spell lists o Ben Walker on Crasimov rumours and new orders o Allan Hooper on new orders and better gameplay o Andrew Locker on WWW pages for Quest Read on! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "Ewan Jones" <c2ej@dmu.ac.uk> Date: Tue, 14 Nov 1995 17:44:06 GMT EJ In response to Alan Hoopers bit about his 81 sk BP, I have one at about the same skill level but has anyone got one upto 99 yet? > PJC > After all the initial discussion when the official alliances were started > up, how well are they working? Is it worth just setting one up to take advantage > of the cheap group training? EJ If you can get the cash togethe to start an official alliance they are most definitely worth setting up, some people don`t realise how beneficial they are, not just in terms of not being able to get robbed in a hq city and an extended order list but in terms of the services that are available, thats where the real advantages are, if you get a service for the hq then all it costs you is the maintenance fee (1000 gp per turn), for this you can use the method of withdrawing 15000 gp each turn and then re-spending this at your hq on the service, 1000 gp for five 99 purchases of the skill (which you put at 200 gold of course). > PJC > Has anyone noticed the monsters are actually any tougher? EJ You obviously missed the bit about monks of ythcal that someone (Chris maybe?) put in, monsters are a lot tougher than before and some of the new ones sound especially tough. EJ Well, if anyone is going to b`pool 95 then I will be in attendence so feel free to say hi. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "N.Gormley" <MCDI4NG1@fs1.ch.umist.ac.uk> Date: Wed, 15 Nov 1995 12:07:33 BST >PJC> Has anyone noticed the monsters are actually any tougher? NG> Yes to my cost, i was down in a liar merrily killing the odd Ogre or two when KJC decided to change the toughness of the monsters. On that turn i met two Ogres which i engaged- during the short fight i lost a priest and nealy my thief as well without to much damage to them. I might not of had a great group ( pretty weak actually) but i had killed Ogres before with out much hassle, so basically i would say the monsters had been toughend up - though i doubt more powerful groups would of noticed that much. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 15 Nov 1995 10:42:56 GMT From: Jonathan Burt <jonathan@jaburt.demon.co.uk> JB> One question I have, is whether someone has thought of setting up a mage spell database, i.e. Someone posts a list of all the spells they know, and if you see a speel on the list you did not know, and you have one which is not on the list. You could mail the author and request that the new spell is put on. JB> This way you would build a fair and helpful list, with which everyone takes part in. JPG> Jonathan, there are a lot of players here who have been in the game for a long time, and hence have complete spell lists (like me). I'm sure it will be possible to email you one if you would like, but to put the spells up on the Digest might be a bit of a spoiler for people. If nobody minds, I _could_ put one up... Let me know what you think. Oh, and have any new spells been introduced? Was that flesh to stone one implemented? Does anyone have the component number? :) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "M.B.Walker -Ben Walker" <M.B.Walker@open.ac.uk> Date: Wed, 15 Nov 95 12:10:00 GMT (To All Crasi-Quest Players) BW> I am trying to compile a list of all town rumours, and linking them to the NPC and artefact blurbs as well as any additional info that appears in the Crasimoff Chronicles. If you are able to help, or just wish to receive a copy of what I have so far, please e-mail me at <m.b.walker@open.ac.uk>. BW> Also , does anyone have a comprehensive list of all the new orders that have been implemented since the last update to the rule-book ? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 17 Nov 1995 08:45:05 +0000 (GMT) From: Allan Hooper <A.O.Hooper@herts.ac.uk> AH> Would it be possilbe for Steve or Neil to post what changes they are currently implementing or planning to implement, so the Digest readership can give some feedback? I'm especially interested in the details of Ressurection but info on any other of the soon to be additions would be nice. AH> While I'm at it, I think the present improvements add to the current game a lot and have been added at an impressive rate. Now what I think needs to be added is another level to gameplay. At the moment its gain 2000 exp, do temple quests, build up skills and either join an alliance and/or keep going until you get bored. AH> Some variation to quests might be nice as the TQ routine quickly gets old. Paul Noble's idea about raiding a dungeon to kill a Lich or something masterminding an army of orcs/gobbos/undead is a good one. How about quests from the assasins guild to kill an NPC? "Your mission Jim, should you choose to accept it, is to waste NOBBY(6666) last seen in the Decaying Goblin in Relorge(14). For completing this mission you will recieve a bulk sum of X,000gp's" A quick trip to the settlement in question, a few talk orders in the Decaying Goblin and you are given his location (or maybe his direction of travel so you have to map wilderness/cast locate to find his exact position) off Nobby and return to any assasins guild to claim your bounty. The NPC's would have to be souped up a bit, they are a bit piss poor at the moment, but it would provide a nice change. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Thu, 16 Nov 1995 15:50:40 +0000 (GMT) From: "Andrew.Russell.Locker" <ca5alo@isis.sunderland.ac.uk> How do, Do you know of any WWW pages that cover the topic of Quest(or any KJC game)? Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers Andy JPG> I included this one because I only have one Quest page link off my homepage, but I know that several of you have web pages pertaining to Quest, so here is your oppurtunity to advertise them all again. :) I have to get around to doing my own page up so that I am happy with it! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- JPG> Okay folks, that's the lot for the week. Thank you for the good response. As I say, if someone (Ewan?) could do a write up of the Blackpool meet for the next Digest, it'd be much appreciated. Bye for now folks, and as usual, happy Questing. :) >>-Josh-> "we are Young, we run Free, keep our teeth nice and clean, see our Friends, see the sights, feel Alright" -- Supergrass Up
