I would also be grateful if some one could let me have the new monster numbers for my alliance monster sheet. I'm not after the blurbs, just the numbers. If you feel that giving this information in the digest is a bit of a spoiler could someone please Email me direct. PD> The two monsters I have come across are Sky Ray (899) and Leperchaun (897). -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sun, 26 Nov 1995 21:10:43 GMT From: Chris Dickson <chris.dickson@keble.oxford.ac.uk> : CC> BTW OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW MY LEG *HURTS*. Does anyone know if you can : FTP painkillers? ;-) CMD> No, alas, but when I was ill not so long ago (hence the lack of contact, world!) I was given some anti-biotics called CO-AMOXICLAV. It's nice to see AMOXICLAV doing well for himself. Last time I heard of him, he was running a food store in Jolesville. (Sorry... couldn't resist...) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sun, 26 Nov 95 19:17:42 GMT From: Dave Rees <chaos@thanes.demon.co.uk> > CC> Secondly, I would like to thank KJC for their latest brilliant piece > of inputting: <Snip> > Thank you, KJC, you have restored my faith in your stupidity. DR> I had one of my turns sent to my brother last week. Not Impressed. > PB> About the game newsletters, <etc> DR> I don't want the newsletter on my turns. And I don't want KJC staff writing in biro on my bloody turns either! > PB> For some reason I seem to be unable to recruit characters with > their skills over 50 DR> I've just brought in 3 new chars 2 * DF (54,51) and an EM (51) in the last 5 turns. 3 'J' orders 3 chars >50 SK. Yer just unlucky. > PB> Does anyone know has the ASLs <Snip> Black Voids, etc? DR> Void still works everytime on a monster group except for the new monsters that are immune, and the old ones that had partial resistance. > COS> Erm, being new to Quest, <etc> Can someone explain how I can get > cured and how diseases work ?!?!?! DR> Could be time to try out one of those 'not before time' new temple services. I've yet to see anyone die through disease although I have seen a mage down to 1 TO point before Bruv paniced a bit. Anyway yer local Phyloqure or Baldor outlet should be floggin' (602) by now, time to whip down for a chat with the dude I feel. > COS> What is your opinion of: N/A Groups. DR> The NA status as it stands sucks. It's a great idea for new parties and should be kept exactly as it is. Unfortunately for older groups, why? I don't see the need for 100+ turn groups to go NA. There should be a set upper limit for the NA status. The 'Players who don't want to interact with the game world' crap doesn't cut any ice with me. Anyone who plays in G14 will know that the BKA is the dominant alliance, in the past 6 weeks we've been engaged in an operation to bring down an alliance that has tried to be a serious opposition to us. After a serious rampage over the last 7 turns just 6 groups have killed 99 PC's and removed 7 groups from play. Some the groups of the enemy alliance are now going NA to stop themselves being attacked. If we continue at this rate the majority of the groups in G14 will be NA within 3 Months. I do not want to see this happen, not because I can't kill characters, but because it will kill the game stone dead. Anyway the point of this incessant babble is this: I want to play in a game where the are NO NA parties. I don't want to have to start from scratch again and I want a game world different (made of lots of islands?) from the G14 world where EVERYTHING is available in one city. So we've decided to see what's going to happen. Either everyone goes NA (we win), we see the infamous 'Kharne policemen' (we win again) or we get what we think alot of people want. There you have it. IMHO. > SA> I received my KJC membership pack some days ago and just ask, > WHAT IS THE POINT??? DR> Mine went straight to the paper bank. Why do I need a membership card with my account number on it? It's on the top of every turn I get. > SA> Got a letter from Kevin some days ago. <Snip> They have not yet > decided what they will do after the E-mail option, but it should possibly be horses (according to Kevin). DR > Email, not before time. Horses should be interesting, there are some very nice pitfalls waiting to be found in programming these:) > JPG> Okay, a question from me before I go. On my last turn my party > found tracks of another party in the wilderness. DR> T0 should do it. DR> I'm preparing to go into combat with half a dozen Monks of Phyloqure next turn. I'll let you know how badly I fair. They're worth 160gp/sec if you're interested. DR> After watching OA's for the last few months, it's become obvious to me that there are still a few failings here. I feel that the range of equipment allowed to be sold needs to be expanded to include spell components and some other more bizarre stuff like skulls {BKA calling card:)}. STOP the town thieves getting into the HQ's. It's F***ing outrageous that the local riff raff can break in on a maximum defence level. For 200 gp a week I expect bars on the windows etc. With the change of heart from KJC about the amount of money that can be transferred between alliance funds and alliance groups, do KJC now condone alliances handing money to themselves to buy skills for NOTHING? I seriously hope not, but it looks to me that they probably aren't worried that much about it and if that is the case we might as well all get our snouts in the gravy trough. DR> Finally I hope all G14 players will support the new G14 editor and I hope we will not see the 'alliance politics' touted by a certain alliance reappear again. I'm off back to hibernation again now, ba humbug to you all. Ta Ra. Dave. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 27 Nov 95 12:54:13 GMT From: Phill Coleman <colemanp@cs.man.ac.uk> PJC > Curses - I think that they depend upon the power of the priest casting thespell, your closeness to that god etc. I was cursed by a 99sk priest with a +22 Ythcal bonus and I was cursed (a penalty of between 10 & 20) for over 10 turns ;-( PJC > I would guess that disease would follow the same lines, strength of monster, strength/ toughness of character etc. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "P.D.J.CLEMENTS" <CLEMEPDJ@bravo.aston.ac.uk> Date: Tue, 28 Nov 1995 11:55:18 GMT+1 PDJC>I have to agree with Stefan Anderson about the KJC membership pack and say WHAT IS THE POINT ??? Looking through it I was impressed by the graphical design but it was full of crap. Firstly the card with your central account number, well thanks very much KJC, all this time I've been using it and so obviously I'll need the card to help me remember what it was. I bloody well know my account number, I have to write the thing on every turn card that I fill in. Then there is the prehistoric back issues of KJC news, why? Most of the changes have already occured and so serve no obvious benefit. Finally the poster, nice . . . yeah, pity about all the spelling mistakes. Maybe I'm being too negative but I can see no reason why KJC forked out (our) money on these packs which only use is to hold my G16 newsletters (and that will change aswell) Okay, it might be nice for the newbie to KJC but I would of rather saved the resources (and the cost which no doubt will be out of our pockets in the long run.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- JPG> OKay, my turn now. :) Firstly, the rules update sheet. Um, I kinda presumed I'd receive a rules update sheet pertaining to QUEST not to that football game. Did I misread something somewhere? JPG> Monks of Baldor... so much for good monks going about trying to convert the populace. I wasn't expecting them at all... hint: enchant weapons, or you're not going anywhere in a fight with these chaps! JPG> Apparently dead characters cannot be the target of any spells. Surely those involved with group conduct would like the oppurtunity to 'void a dead character so they can't be ressurected? Also on the subject of character ressurection, NA <20 turn groups are given free ressurections. That would have been handy for me when engaging a dragon on 5th turn and losing my first priest. :( JPG> Right, that's about it I guess! Hope to hear from you all soon... but for now, happy Questing... >>-Josh-> "But I still haven't found what I'm looking for..." - U2 Up
